Active windows stay open (iTunes, word, browser[firefox]) but the desktop and Task bar goes away...random, and it comes back only at a reboot. She has a dell (don't know what series - i'll make note of it next time) - the warranty JUST expired about three weeks ago. So it can be worked on and upgraded (if she wants to )
