When you overclock, you increase the FSB. The FSB is like a communication channel, for all the components in your system, to communicate with the CPU. So the speed of FSB affects the whole system. But not in the way you're thinking, I think...

You don't have to worry about the hard drives or optical drives. Overclocking will affect the CPU for the most part.
