Thanks ECTech. have run Superantispyware and its got rid of the pop up :"winantivirus" and also removed the task bar indicating the PC is infected.

Will separately forward the new log file.

BUT I still cant get into Start/My Computer/Properties, nor get the Control Pnael back as it keeps referring me to to a Systems administrator.
How do I resurrect access to teh Control PaNel??
