The free version of zone alarm from
ZoneAlarm by Check Point - Award winning PC Protection, Antivirus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, Identity Protection, and much more. is a pretty good firewall. (only if your using XP don't use it if have any version of vista installed)
As for trojan's get AVG Anti-Virus free from:
AVG Free Advisor: AVG Anti-Virus Free
some people say it works better than norton, but then again what doesnt.
As Warez said though that is cause by overheating it used to happen to me a lot when i was running my generic ram and stock heatsink.
