just build asemi cheap core 2 rig and use it as a server
something like
MSI 650I -110 bucks
Core 2 E6320 - i think 180
GSkill 2GB DDR2 800 - 90
Xcilo 500watt - 50
250gb HDD - 60

that should work well as a server
