if you have up2date on your computer you can upgrade all of the packages on your install to the newest versions/kernel and all that other good stuff, but it's always best to just do another install
the thing i always to is when partitioning my hard drive i create like a 5 gig /home partition so when i reinstall a new version i still have all of my files in the /home directory
