It's not the greatest place but they are known for their things, although I am still trying to get into Oregon State. I haven't gotten word from them yet, mainly because I have just sent my application in 2 days ago :p Took me 2 months to finish the dern 600 word essay :o Posted by: Rich_Franklin Congrats I've been accepted to Drexel University. What are you majoring in? Posted by: GameGURU Congrats to you. Probably graphic design, most likely something in the art field. Posted by: BRreed congrats all around. just remember that college is all about you v. yourself if your willing to put in the effort, you'll have no problems at all, till masters/ dr. holly **** ........................ Posted by: kyman_33 Good luck at college. I'll be joining the college ranks in a year and half myself. -Kyle Posted by: DJ-CHRIS Congrads, I should be going to college soon like you, but I am doing extra corses :) Don't binge drink, and don't do too many drugs (Or better yet, none at all). Posted by: jorsoft03 Congrats to everybody :) I'm starting college in the fall myself. 2 years at community college then the next two at the U of M. Posted by: Jam3s-Zer0 Gz. Just remember to have fun too. Posted by: jono199 Thats true but you've also got to remember that no one is going to help you pick up the pieces if you don't put in the work because you were having fun. On the other hand first year isn't that hard, and you should have lots of time to do stuff. Posted by: Martin Congrats all around. I'm a first-year EE at Cal Poly SLO, however, I would like to say some words of wisdom: - Time management should be your #1 priority. Fall behind and you're screwed for the rest of the term. No one's going to be holding your hand here. - There are three breeds of people you will encounter: those who study their a$$es off and get good grades, those who are lazy and good grades, and those who are just plain lazy and don't give a rat's a$$ - If your instructor grades on a curve, always count on the lazy apathetic ones to boost your grade. - When final exams and/or midterms come around, Mountain Dew and coffee will become your best friends. - Don't be surprised if you get your first-ever D or F, however, do take your situation seriously if you happen to end up on academic probation for the term. - Network as much as possible. Your friends in college are an extremely valuable asset to have, especially when hard times come. - Going to college turned me into an alcoholic (no, I'm not the type that abuses it, I just enjoy it whenever I have the chance). Don't be surprised if it happens to you. Drink responsibly, though. :) - And finally, it's still possible to be an engineer and have a social life. (refer back to my first point) Posted by: ATIRAGEPRO I skipped College. I've been going to Bermingham Young University. (I'm not a MoRman) I've allready graduated one of my classes with a bachealors degree! :D Phsychology! Now you can call me: Dr. RAGE! :) Good luck on your journey in the College world. You've got alot of homework ahead of you. ;) Posted by: FghtinIrshNvrDi College is a breeze boys... Do the work, put your feet up. I mean, you're a bum if you don't do the work. You only have to go to class for 15-18 hours per week. Maybe 20 if you're insane. Here's my advice. Don't dive right in to the bogus college 'culture' crap. Basically, it's a bunch of completely clueless people left to thier own device. Limit your exposure to a couple good friendships and lots of aquaintences. Don't get caught up in the dumbass party scene either. Sit back. Watch. Learn. You'll be surprised how stupid people are if you're sober and remember watching them. I have no regrets from taking this approach. Ryan Posted by: jono199 Lol, I've had 25 hours a week for three years now ... Why am I going to keep doing it after this year? If anyone asks you to go make Robots, remeber they run on Maths and Maths alone, not electricity, Maths. One other point about Engineers though, yes we can have a social life, but at the end of the day your probably an engineer through and through. Become happy with your status and yourself. Use your chi well and realise that a geek will always be a geek being true to yourself and your kind. Oh and soon you too will hate lazy arsed B.A. students, eight hours a week, pah. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.
