Do you expect Valentine's Day presents from your girlfriend?

I've gotten some conflicting opinions on this one.

Posted by: Harper

I don't mean to soud sexist, however about the only thing I would be expecting from my girlfreind is a bit of quality time together. Even if it involves watching a chick-flick at the movies.
Some Passionate Sex afterwards would be nice.
However I would not expect her to do go out and purchase some thing for me.

Seriously, what is more romantic......
A gift of an expensive box of chocolates.
A gift of an AMD Athlon FX60 CPU.

Posted by: Dark_Sniper*

No not really i mean just as Harper said time with each other, the guy should be the one to get the GirlFriend something if they girl gets something for the boyfriend fine but its the time together that counts.

Posted by: Qiranworms

Interesting question...I'd say no, probably not.

Posted by: Nubius

No......however I would hope that the girl I was going out with would be cool enough to not 100% thoroughly "EXPECT" presents from me. This isn't to say I'd use that to just get or do nothing, but I hate how valentines day is ruined and now women expect things otherwise it's 'heck' to pay.

Just heard a commercial on the radio the other day "Guys, dont forget about valentines day. We dont want the normal teddy bear and chocolates, we want to be pampered. Get a gift certificate for so-and-so Spa today"

What kind of ridiculous crap is that!?

Posted by: Emily

Ah good, that's a relief because I completely forgot that Valentine's Day existed this year.

Posted by: Nubius

lol, just remember that next time you feel the urge to yell out 'equal rights', not saying that you do..........just making a comment.

Of course that's just our nerdy opinions.....the dude you forgot about may be all sad and emo right now for all we know.

"Man..........emily forgot about me............I cant believe it........she must not love me........." etc..etc...

Posted by: Powerslave

I don't have a girlfriend :(

Posted by: Nubius

maybe you do but she just forgot about you!?

I don't think I'll get lucky this year :(

Posted by: gaara

meh I wouldn't really want to see money wasted on a present I probbably wouldn't want and I especially wouldn't want to pull the whole fake "AW I LOVE THIS PRESENT WHICH THEREBY MEANS I LOVE YOU THANK YOU" routine...I've pretty well realized that teen relationships have nothing to with love, it's nothing but your raging hormones and the instinct to PORK :p
"Man..........emily forgot about me............I cant believe it........she must not love me........." etc..etc...
"you have to drink coffee or else you're a **** conformist...YOU CAN'T BE A NON-CONFORMIST IF YOU DON'T DRINK COFFEE"

lol - I was talking to a female employee of mine today and she was going on how she told her husband "DON'T GET ME ANYTHING" for valentines day... I don't want anything blah, blah, blah...

Now... I'm 30 years old. I've been around a few... (clears throat) women in my time. If her husband listens to her and doesn't get her anything, regardless if she told him not too... "He'll be in the dog house for months."

When a women says, "You don't have to get me anything, I don't want anything." It's a mans cue to get her something anyway." Just because she said not too. And getting her something anyway means that you really care about her, because you really wanted to get her something... even though she "said" she didn't want anything.

Women have a huge array of Jedi Mind tricks they use. Be very careful... When they say NO it really means YES!!! lol

And therfor YES also means YES too, there is no way to avoid it, except being a man, and well, living with scruffy for awhile.

...there had to be a specific reason for posting this poll :p

Posted by: DJ-CHRIS

well I am kinda weird and not properly fitting into here, since everyone knows I am gay.

I would expect something small, mainly something romantic not expensive, unless of corse they didnt celebrate it for a certain reason.

Posted by: charles_scott

I could give a rats *** if my g/f got me anything, all I want is to spend some time with her and just be together...

Posted by: talldude123

i do not have a girlfriend, but i wouldnt expect anything from her, valentines day is a crappy hallmark holiday, and i dont even believe in the "cupid" thing either...

omg you dont?!?!??!?!?!?! :O /sarcasm

hate those people

Posted by: Nubius

lol yeah, if I had a girlfriend I'd just be hugging her and saying "Ahhh, this warm REAL human female body I didn't have to pay for is better than anything you could buy"

Unless you bought one of those "$6000" real sex dolls like they've showcased on HBO's "Real Sex". The ones that are made with the uber real latex/silicon and can be customize in anyway shape of form you wish. (I must say you'd be pretty freaky to buy one of those, and rich... but seriously if you think about it... THEY DON'T TALK!!!" That's an A+++ in my book.

[SARCASM] JOKE [/SARCASM]

:D

So with the exception of Chris, pretty much unanimously no one here would expect a present from their girlfriend :) Thats reassuring.

Posted by: Nubius
Unless you bought one of those "$6000" real sex dolls like they've showcased on HBO's "Real Sex".
yeah, those things are insane. I saw that episode infact lol and a girl bought one for her boyfriend.......what a cool girlfriend lol.......she practically bought competition :p

I saw some japanese made ones.......the things are friggen insane, but man they are kind of creepy looking. What if they came to life and rebelled agaisnt you!

Posted by: Alex81388

Yes, but because thats how she is, not because 'i have to get something from m gf on vday'. I expect her to go all out with everyone, if u ge what i mean (prob not).

The holiday is as stupid as st pats and sweetest day.

I honestly don't see how that could do anything for you guys, none of them (not even a male version) would do anything for me.

Posted by: P.P. Mguire

I dont care if she gets me something in return but i HAVE to get somethng for my chick and it HAS to be over 50 bucks minimum.

Posted by: Nubius
I honestly don't see how that could do anything for you guys,
who said that they'd "do anything for me" I just commented on the fact that they are insane not to mention that I also said they'd be kind of creepy the way they have those lifeless stares to em. I would want to see how lifelike that skin actually felt but it's not like I'm sitting "OH MAN, I WISH I HAD ONE OF THOSE FOR AS MY GIRLFRIEND!!"

And once again.........quit comparing V-day to St. Patricks day! Leave it the 'heck' alone. St Patricks day is the best. Everyones irish and can drink and be merry! You dont have to buy anything for anyone to get yourself out of trouble, you simply drink and have fun.

And also you get to abuse those who aren't wearing green MUAHAHAHAHA

Posted by: gaara
I dont care if she gets me something in return but i HAVE to get somethng for my chick and it HAS to be over 50 bucks minimum.
/whip crack

Posted by: P.P. Mguire

Not whip crack, its just how i am. I do it for myself not becasue she says so. Every year (except ounce) ive had a different gf so i dont see how one could whip me into saying you MUST buy me something over 50 or w/e. I just dont like myself to feel cheap at all cause im not that kinda guy and they usualy have sisters w/ bfs and im outdoing them and making their sister jealous of them :D Always gets points in my book.

Posted by: Nubius
except ounce
it's "once", my old pothead self can't help but point out the difference between 'ounce' which is the weight of something, versus 'once'.....the occurance of something happening only one time.

yeah yeah, NERD, Grammar police, whatever. No I don't get self gratification from correcting people, it's just one of those peeves where something kind of 'irks' you wrong

Posted by: thebleakness

We call it "singles recognition holiday" here. We have these flower grames and you can immediatly tell who has a g/f, b/f or someon who likes another. It gets easy to tell whos single becuase they dont have a rose.

Me, i didnt get anything. :(

That smiley is funny and i knew that.

Posted by: jorsoft03

99% of guys don't expect anything back, and 99% of guys don't get anything back (that's material anyways ;))
I'm not a big fan of the whole concept of valentine's day but if some roses and a little romance make my girl feel special then it's all right by me.
