Sam Walton is dead if I am thinking correctly. I worked at wal-mart for 5 months and got fired because they asked me to clean the bathrooms when no one had done it for 2 weeks so I said F U to my boss and he fired me. I hate that place everything is so stressful. I work at Staples now and it kicks A$$.

Walmart has to many regulations when trying to buy items with checks or credit cards. While in florida they wouldn't let us use credit/debit/checks because we where out of state, they wouldn't even let someone else in another lane check out because she didn't have her license or a social security number on the check. Here they won't let me return items for a exchange with in the time allowed which is BS, just because the item is usualy around $100. The Walmart over in the next town takes ALL there electronics out of there boxs, and locks them up in the back and leaves the boxs on the shelfs, if you want something like an AMP, Xbox, PS2 then you have to come between 5:00AM and 5:00PM or the manager with the only set of keys leaves. And yes Sam Walton died, his children and grand children all run the buisness now, and one family member has done bought most the other members out.

Wall Mart has always been bull, they even hire illegal immigrants.

I hate walmart too. Lets bomb them.

what does imo stand forrrr ffs

20 or so R or Unrated dvds have mysteriously disapeared from my local Walmart, thanx to my buddy :O

wal-mart blows. I have a story about them. Did you know they hired someone to infiltrate K-Mart? K-Mart was looking for a new executive position, Vice President to be exact. Wal-Mart hired a guy to go get the job and make bad decisions on purpose. This alone is a reason why Wal-Mart is dominating all of our lives right now. They had no competition with someone making all of the wrogn decisions in the competition's headquarters. Wal-Mart can suck a wang. I used to work at K-Mart and it's a good store.

Wal-Mart rocks!

There I said it. What now.

Jk.

If you hate Wal-Mart make sure you don't buy from there.

Posted by: charles_scott

I have no choice, I am not going to Audio City (place in town that sells very good subs/amps/capacitors) and pay triple what walmart wants for the same item. That place jacks prices up really high, and most of there stuff seems to be used. But Kmart here is a lot worse than Walmart, and gets hardly any buisness.....

Posted by: charles_scott

It won't..... I have allways tried using a check there they said they either need a SSN or a license number, but I tell them to screw off it's not my check, it's my mothers and she can't see what I am buying because it is a gift for her..... I allways use my checks (she is the co signer so... yea...) but they allways want MY SSN or MY LICENSE NUMBERS!!! Then they ask for hers.... It ****es me off to high ****, you don't see crap like that being asked online.... So why in stores????

Posted by: ATIRAGEPRO

You don't see that online??? You must not have AOL. :wooha::cool:

Posted by: charles_scott

I have MSN 9.0.

Posted by: chevytrucknut

A check will not bounce if it doesnt have the SSN on the back. I work at a a bank. Wal-mart is good because they offer cheap crap (note the word crap) but they are a monopoly. They enacted the automatic ACH (they send your check through automatically) so they would stop getting scammed. Now not as many people shop there as did before. HA! most people only write checks at dept. stores because of the 2-3 day float, now they have elimanated that half of the community.

Anyways, Wal-mart is okay imo

I think you may of fallen into a myth. The reason I'm saying that is because that is corporate espionage and HIGHLY illegal. Not calling you a liar, but where did you get this info? If someone told you this, I would be a bit skeptical. There have been cases where walmart supposedly spied on small retailers, but that was thrown out as false. Places like small markets and such. There was no proof, and may of very well have been small time america grocers needing a settlement to keep there heads above the water. I feel sorry for them, however that is not the route to take.

if it wasn't for Wal-Mart my computer wouldn't be sitting on this nice new desk :p

Not to mention it's where I bought all my gardening supplies as well :)

I hate Wal-Mart. I hate their selection, I hate their business practices, and I hate their hiring methods. They are the largest single employer in the US today, they are also one of the lowest-paying ($6 starting, even McDonalds is higher).

IMO = In my opinion

I am not a fan of Wal-Mart...I try to avoid it as much as I can. Some friends and I went there in the wee hours of the morning once, and it still had tons of people shopping in it.

Posted by: Nubius

the only thing I hate about wal-mart, especially in this desert, is the white trash dirty azz people who are generally in there.

OTHER THAN THAT, CANT BEAT THOSE LOW LOW PRICES!! ROLLING BACK EVERYDAY!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA

We don't require a Socail Security number. Just a DL# and Date of Birth.

Walmart sucks in morals and such, but what can you do when they offer similar item for half the price as others. Although like when I looked at buying a guitar, i didn't even bother walmart's pos first act guitars, I just went to the guitar store. So small private businesses just need to stick to offering higher quality and more diverse products.

I got kicked out of a local wal mart about a year ago. Long story short, I had 1 item to pay for and only 2 of the 30 registers were open, causing mile long lines. I went to the jewelry counter and the deep spanish accented snotty a$$ teenager informed me she has to take jewelry customers first. I said okay, thinking it was a joke because no other customers were at the jewelry counter. About 20 seconds later, a woman with a full cart comes over, grabs a pair of 2.96 earrings off of the counter, and dumps her sh*t on the counter. After seeing the employee thought it was completely normal, I went insane. Before I knew it, everyone was looking at me and covering up their children's ears, and security was walking straight for me.

Also, my girlfriend had it out with a wal mart employee. She was 17 at the time, and tried to buy an R rated DVD. The age verification thing came up, and the clerk said she can't buy it unless she was 18. Let's think logically here, how old do you have to be to see an R rated movie in the theatre? 17. How old do you have to be to buy an R rated movie at wal mart? 18. Needless to say, my girlfriend told her that the rules were horse sh*t, went to a different checkout, and ended up buying the item after all. After she bought it, she made sure she walked past the first employee's register who told her she originally couldn't buy it, and gave a nice big smile.

F*ck wal mart.

I agree. When I first bought a mountain bike, I got it from wal mart. At first I thought it was cool, until I started to realize after riding it that both rims became rather wobbly, unlike when I bought them. The brakes also sucked, and there was a grinding sound at the rear cassette (set of gears). I went to a local bike shop, spent 100 bucks more, and got a bike that rode like a BMW. It was amazing how different it was... Definitely justified the higher price, but MAN was I ever happy I took that wal mart thing back.

I almost bought a t-shirt at the beach. It had the wal mart logo, but instead it said:

WEL-USED.

ALWAYS LOW STANDARDS. ALWAYS.

"Why is Wall-Mart so successful?"
"It's simple economics son. I don't understand it, but God I love it"

Posted by: tmanw88

What walmart does is they put in a store and it hurts the local economies, mainly the small businesses. There's no way those small businesses can keep up with the low prices walmart can sell because of bulk. Of course, I'm talking about small items like groceries, toys, electronics and things like that. Most people are still smart enough to buy special items, like guitars, somewhere else.

They get paid exactly what they're worth. Why would you pay someone to work at Wal-mart anything other than minimum wage? Anyone can do it. It takes no skills.

Wal-Mart, or any other employer, has no responsibility to pay people more than they're worth just to simply 'be nice.'

If you want to make more than $6/hr, go to school, get an education, and then make enough money where do don't give a **** about paying twice as much at some smaller store just so you don't have to rub shoulder's with the scum that go to that **** hole.

*steps off soap box*

It was just a comment, but maybe you should try working at Wal-Mart and being a victim of its high-stress, overworking, and underpaying (and in some cases, not paying at all) environment. Or atleast read a book entitled "Nickled and Dimed", which details a rich Florida journalists' attempt to live as a member of the working poor in America. One of the places she worked at as Wal-Mart and she details her experiences there very well.
It was just a comment, but maybe you should try working at Wal-Mart and being a victim of its high-stress, overworking, and underpaying (and in some cases, not paying at all) environment
ok.......I've got a friend working at wal-mart.....he's just a normal 'henchman', brings in carts, empties trucks, etc..etc.....has been working there for a LONG azz time, makes about $900 every two weeks........I've heard NONE of the complaints you people are talking about as far as "OMG, IT'S SO STRESSFULL!! THEY DONT PAY YOU!!" blah blah blah.

So maybe the wal-mart where YOU live sucks balls, but that's not true for every single one across america. All it takes is one wal-mart doing all those things that they are accused of doing to employees in that article and boom all of a sudden it's just blanketed that ALL wal-marts are like that

Posted by: jorsoft03

Working at Wal-Mart is pretty much the same thing as working at Target, yet Target pays its employees quite a bit more. Starting pay at the one by my house is $7.25, not the $6 Wal-Mart offers. Target also grosses lower profits than Wal-Mart yet still somehow manages to pay their employees 20% more.
I know ppl who work at Wal-mart too, and not a single one of them like it.

Posted by: Nubius

then tell them to quit, go to target, and stop griping about stupid crap.

From a South Park Episode :

"How do we stop Wal-Mart then?"

"The Wal-Mart is inside each of you."

Stan Punches mirror;
Wal-Mart implodes.

The simple truth is this : Wal-Mart not only kills the economy of the city its in, it also has a 60 mile radius of effect. Case in point : My mom and dad owned a sewing / arts 'n' crafts shop and a woodshop in Dighton. Back before the Wal-Mart in Garden City (roughly 60 some miles from Dighton) things wre good. Wal-Mart was put in. My parents shop went under because everybody would rather drive 60 miles to Garden City because Wal-mart was cheaper. Then the same old ladies came back, wanted to buy some needles 'n' thread; these were the same old ladies who would rather go to Wal-Mart, said to my parents "Why don't you have your shop open so we can get what we need here anymore??" My dad was like "You closed the shop by taking your business 60 miles away".

We also have a small grocery store in Dighton; it employs a few people, but is a cornerstone of the community. I know the guy personally who owns the store; poor guy will probably loose the business to "Wal-Mart" and citizens of Dighton won't know how, or why, it happened, and will have to more than likely drive at least 20-30 miles to another city just to buy a damned can of cream corn, milk, ice cream, etc.

However, in Great Bend, the local Dillons can easily compete with Wal-Mart. Why? Its bloody simple : quality customer service, friendly people there to assist you. Also, there aren't bloody 400 people shopping, working and in some degrees living there.
