I didn't see this topic elsewhere, so I hope this is the right place. I'm new at ripping cds. The problem is that I'm getting a "popping" noise when I play back the files. I ripped a cd to mp3 format using RealOne Player. I ripped it at three different speeds, and each speed had "popping" noises. I thought it was the program, so I switched to Windows Media Player 8, and ripped the same tracks in WMA format, at three different speeds, still "popping" noises. I thought maybe it was the cd, so I switched to a new one, did the same test, and got the same "popping noises". The noise doesn't appear on all the songs, but comes and goes. My PC is running WindowsXP, with a 20GB hard drive, with 5GB free space. I'm using the same sound card that came with the system (can't think of what kind it is). Any suggestions?? Thanks Posted by: neversleeps hmm does it do that when u play other songs that u didnt rip yourself? the only thing i can think of is that ur cd drive is causing the errors. i would try cleaning it with one of those cleaner cds and possibly reinstalling or updating the driver for it. Posted by: GoldmanSachs It only does it with songs I rip myself. Everything else I play sounds fine. I upgraded to the latest Windows Media Player last night. So I hope that will help. I will also get some cleaner, and see if that helps too. Thanks. Posted by: liftoph I am having a similar problem. I have tracked it down to my hardware (and the quality of my CDs). Fix 1: clean the CDs. This has solved some of the problem CDs. Problem is... some CDs are REALLY a problem! Here's the interesting thing: Some of these "bad" CDs play fine on my stereo CD player. So, I am back to the PC having a hardware problem. Specifically the CD drive on my PC. I like the suggestion that I can clean the CD drive on my PC. I will try that and let you know. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
