Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen 2. Click on "Run" 3. Type in "command" and hit ok You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen. 4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter" 5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt 6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop. 7. Click on "properties" You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks. 8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties" 9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab 10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab 11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up). 12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers. 13. Hit the "Ok" button here 14. Hit the "Ok" button again You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen. 15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again. 16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings 17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically" tongue.gif 18. Hit "Ok" 19. Hit "Ok" again 20. You now have a new IP address With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds. P.S: This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. HACKERS TIP:- If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back Enjoy Posted by: darkoverlord Yo, this wont hurt my computer or my other computers in my house will it? Ive never changed my ip address b4, and i plan on doin it but i wanna make sure its safe Posted by: mech.hacker12 nah i am sure it wont harm your computer, unless u make a mistake;) mech.hacker12 Posted by: illmatic1 well you should be careful, some providers prohibit changing your ip like this like mine. This will do nothing but get yourself a new DHCP lease from your router. Posted by: SicKn3sS Doesnt work for me. It's easier to just go into your router and renew the dhcp address there but that doesnt work for me either. It worked on my old internet but not my new one. I have Rogers Cable. But once I switched routers and the ip did change. Is there a way to make it look like u changed routers without actually changing it? I think mac address might help... Posted by: Jam3s-Zer0 On Command prompt type -----> ipconfig /flushdns <---Enter type -----> ipconfig /release <---Enter type -----> ipconfig /renew <---Enter type -----> exit <--------Enter That would be an easier way.
if your behind a router, this will only renew your private ip address. The ip your ISP assigned to you will remain the same. Posted by: Jam3s-Zer0 Well that works for rapidshare, if you dont want to wait. Posted by: Apokalipse you could unplug power to your modem, and plug it back in Posted by: IanP The first way of doing it! Wont that just change the ip of the computer behind the router? The best way...reset the router. These steps are useless for someone like me who has a Static Connection via a cable modem. Posted by: sumone That's where proximity servers come in! Posted by: mikesgroovin As stated in the previous posts, changing your internal IP address has little to no relevance to "hacking" or preventing getting caught from whatever the malicious activity may be. As a client of your ISP you HAVE THE RIGHT to have your external IP changed whenever you wish. Due to lease times and other measures, just unplugging or resetting your router and or modem probably will not change your external IP address. If you really wish to change your IP address then all you have to do is call your ISP and ask them to release and renew your account with a new IP address. The longest time it will take you is probably going to be spent listening to hold music. But just changing your external IP address with your ISP is not saving you from getting caught from doing anything over the net. Your ISP always has a record of what IP you had/have and when you have/had it.
why can't I release and renew on my router or modem? Posted by: mikesgroovin Sometimes this will work, however other times you will receive the same IP address. You will most likely have to do this while you are on the phone with your ISP but you will release, let them know so that they can issue you a new IP and then renew. It really depends on the ISP and the eqipment that they are using. For instance, I know that Comcast in the mid-atlantic region, releasing and renewing won't work. However if you release and wait 24 hours without renewing and THEN renew...it should work. Or you can just call the ISP and have it done in 5 minutes (not including the 2.5 hour hold time) :( hehe The whole reason behind calling them is to get placed on a different subnet. Your ISP will house several different subs under a larger network (quite obviously). If you release/renew then you are only releasing/renewing under your own DHCP server within that subnet....sometimes these are extremely small (like 255.255.255.128 or so). So when you renew, you actually receive the same IP because the entire pool of address is most likely already used up with other accounts and/or other nodes. The point behind either calling them or releasing for a 24-hour period is so that they can place you under a different network alltogether. Posted by: motoxer4533 someone said it works for rapidshare, so you dont have to wait.. what method did you use? I've tried what mech.hacker12 said and that didnt clear up rapid share... Posted by: alexsabree wow... this is confusing Posted by: dawizhacker I did that once, i got a call from SHAW saying that my modem is not going to be offline till the beginning of next month. I am only allowed to have 1 IP address on SHAW, isn't that weird? vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
