I have a pentium 4 2.8HT processor
512Mb of DDR ram
160GB hard drive
And a HIS Excalibur Radeon x600PRO

I have to play battlefield 2 on all low settings any suggestions
on what i should do???

Does active x do anything

Thanks

RAM, turn off ALIasing or antisoptric mode whatever it is lower settings, close applications virus scanner etc,

i have the aliasing off and everything is MED now and it still lags?

You need more ram. What resolution are you running and does it lag in both single and multiplayer? I play great in 1650x1080 with a mix of low, medium and high settings with nv 6800nu. BTW, BF2 doesn't support widescreen. Yesterday, I ordered 7800gt and a new computer with 2gig ram to play in all high settings.

I run it at 800 by 600 at all medium and the lighting low the view distance is at 90% and it still lags on single and multiplayer.

would my direct X have not updating have anything to do with is problem?

Posted by: homerj14

yes its very Possible since direct x coinsides with gaming anyways

Posted by: armyofswiss

how should i repair or update it?
since windows update uses direct X to update itself?
i looked on google but didnt find anything.

Don't know about the directx thing. How much free memory do you have. Try msconfig turn off everything you don't need to free up memory. Even with 1 gig I still go into Task Manager and end task on many windows programs.

Posted by: armyofswiss

yeah about memory i think that is what i need ...i only have 512 and i usually have about 52 proceses running in windows task manager.......when i come out of bf2 and check almost all of my memory is taken i think like 92% or so.

Check your computer time stamp it can prevent updating.

First off, your video card is going to be punished in BF2. Don't expect to run the game any higher than 1024*768, low-medium settings. Second, BF2 eats RAM for breakfast, partly due to the massive amount of shader detail rendered in the maps, which will inevitably overflow from VRAM to system RAM (depending on the size of one's frame buffer/amount of VRAM...). In short, a minimum of 1GB of system RAM is highly recommended.

Are you playing MP or SP? Have you eliminated the chances of the 'choppiness' being network lag?

it is laggy even on singleplayer jsut not as bad im pretty sure it is my memory.

Would 1024 Run bf2 alot better?

Posted by: armyofswiss

well i havent tried it yet but i changed my video card settings in properties set to performance rather than quality (more to performance not all the way)and it might help a bit but any imput would help

thanks guys:)
