Is unix a open source OS or do you have to buy it ??? Thanks Posted by: macdude425 UNIX itself is NOT an open source operating system, but most of its clones, like BSD and Linux are. Posted by: allan16 Where can you get it ? Can you downloaded from the Internet ? Posted by: macdude425 Yes. http://distrowatch.com lists most of the popular Linux and BSD distros and where to download them. Posted by: jakec Yeah Man, Go for Linux, that is open source. You can D/L it from various mirrors, depending on which distrobution you choose. I'd Personally do A "google" to find A D/L mirror, that is Geographically Close to you. Have fun, Jake Posted by: charles@pcfix Some Unix distros are open source, such as Free BSD, Sun Solaris 10 ect.. With this said I would not recomend them for the newb. Go with Linux.
