List of basic Linux commands. Useful for someone just starting out.

Posted by: mhay

i have a list of these commands. but i wonder when i open the computer and after i enter ther user name and password. i cant see anything like opening to windows x environment but instead in consol mode, even when it starting opening the computer there is no seletion or menu that to select to open linux in window x mode.

Posted by: Greg

Yeah, I know. I was suggesting that link for the above list, not for your problem.

But, I do know that in Ubuntu Ctrl > Alt > F7 brings up X.

Posted by: mhay

you know greg i tried CTRL+ALT+F1 to F12 and a lot of experiment i type startx but i cant open to windows x

or this machine is intended to work only in console mode not in windows.
