If it is really soon i just might wait for one of those. Posted by: bla!! Ok, I got this installed, and I have to say I love it! My boot-time was decreased by about 10 seconds (I'm running a Powerbook G4 1.33 Ghz). Dashboard that handles the widgets is awesome! And spotlight rocks! I think it's a problem with my mac, but the new Quicktime 7 freezes on me. Plus I'm ****ed because I just bought a license for 6 about a month and a half ago. The G5s are pretty bulky, power consuming, and inefficient. To get a G5 laptop now. you'd kill apple's aesthetic touch. Apple computers mean nothing without superior battery life and a light and simple design, and the G5 processor would kill that. The fact that they havent found an effective way to cool the system, keep it the thickness we've come to expect from powerbooks and, on top of that, maintain usable battery life have really slowed the project down. However rapid improvements to the architechture have made the G5 powerbook a much more real possibility. As IBM begins to scale the process down further (from 90 to 65), we will begin to see a stronger push towards mobile G5s.
