Posted by: Shakie Old or not, this is a good link. I am sure there are several people out there who don't know about this. Posted by: GrimReaper23 yea man it's only on certain models aswell Posted by: SILVIA_FREAK Yea, Im filling it out. Thanks for the heads up. Posted by: Lonewolf5460 got mine came in two days Posted by: Simon
Originally posted by matt2m got mine came in two days
That was quick! Posted by: bonecrusher doing it right now Posted by: igotyofire whats the point of this new cord? Posted by: Greg It is supposed to keep your xbox from catching on fire, but I have read things that say that the power cord is not the problem, like this:
Yet another post about the Xbox power cord but this one is good. It appears that nothing was wrong with the power cord that shipped with the Xbox. The problem is actually the power supply. On all 1.0 or 1.1 Xboxes there is a faulty soldering job right at the spot where you plug in the power cord. This causes a spark whenever you plug in the power cord. On rare cases the power supply will burn up, which is what the new power cord is suppose to prevent. The thing is Microsoft isn’t bothering calling a recall on the actual problem. They give you this advanced power cord which will prevent the spark from getting outside the box, but your Xbox will still fry. Great job Microsoft. Take the easy way out.
Posted by: shuaibao I wouldn't care for now. I guess that i'll get it later, is it THAT much of a problem? Posted by: Lonewolf5460 better safe than sorry it took 2 min.And came in two days won't take that long. Posted by: shootdamonkey Just a quick hint to people it only applys to the first releases of the xbox, if you bought one fairly recently then theres no need to get a new power cable. Posted by: Lonewolf5460 they wont let you any ways before you send it there is a required feild where you put in you xbox serial #. Posted by: charles_scott I have a Xbox, got it two weeks after it was release and there is NO bad soldering jobs on the PSU in it. Sure there might be a few people who tryed to fake it to make the Xbox look bad, but im sure its a few hundred bad cables since my cable does get warm. Anyways i have no problems running my xbox with the stock cable. Posted by: Greg Again, it is not a 'bad cable.' It is a problem with some Xbox's PSUs. Posted by: Lonewolf5460 It is rare also I noticed when I tried out my original power cord that if u plug it in first then into the xbox that causes the spark so do it the other way around, when I did I did not hear the spark. Posted by: Kalek yah. i dont get any problems with my cord at all. even though i havent played it for a while but when i played it for hours at a time no problems. so, some unlucky people i guess. Posted by: chip209 Cool i never seen this Posted by: PoisonPorkchop
Originally posted by Greg Again, it is not a 'bad cable.' It is a problem with some Xbox's PSUs.
Again, it is not a bad "PSU". That is an excuse that sony and nintendo fanboys made up. Posted by: jjrodezno lol i just got the cable so i can plug in the console in the living room and in my room without having to unplug any cables :) love free stuff xD Posted by: gimli of gloin microsoft are just covering there arses!!!! sure your cable or PSU might not be defected but they cant take that chance. so if you go complain that your house burnt down you might not be able to make a claim because you new about the problem just didnt act. u might aswell get it....free STUFF!! yay Posted by: Ronnen Hmmm well thats cool i guess, I have two Xboxs ones fryed, the power supply. but now imgetting new cords, and well hopefully ill get my 2ed fixed soon. thanks Posted by: jjrodezno new cable is so bulky lol but its free so yea Posted by: duckey Just saw this. This is the reason I quit consoles. After the redicoulous pricing when the consoles first come out and the crappy jobs of putting them together has ****ed me off. For those of you who said this is rare be warned. Its not to rare. Ive seen 4 cases. Happened to me twice, a friend and another friend. First time I didnt get the spark on the outside becuase I was probally looking the other way. But they replaced the entire thing for only 80 bucks. Yes!!! not.... Second time I sent it and they wanted like 300$. So I was like f** that. But I still believe the second time was caused to dre's instead of me plugging the xbox in. Posted by: Lonewolf5460 **** that sucks but i agree my xbox gives me disc read errors. Posted by: Game_Cubed Just saw this. This is the reason I quit consoles. Hes young what can you say lol. Posted by: VengaBoyz What I found unique in the Xbox 360 is that it offers near-photo-realistic graphics, play music and video and link up gaming communities over the Internet that Sony and Nintendo is planning to offer next year.
