These are a luxury and abuse of them will result in them being lost. If using an Avatar please make sure it's appropriate for all to view. Any text under the avatar should not contain any text indicating a BANNED, NOT BANNED, MOD, MODERATOR, ADMIN status. Signature Rules Lines: The maximum number of lines is 15 using text size=1. The maxium is 8 lines or less using a bigger font and text size, and with a graphic. Images: No more then 2 images...totaling 468x120 and they must be kept small. No more page images that cover the whole bottom of your post or forces the post thread to scroll horizontally because of their size. The smaller the image the better!! Text: The text/images that appear in your signature must be non-offensive to members of this forum. Scripts: Scripts are allowed but should be used with caution. Scripts like those from www.danasoft.com that display the users IP are not allowed as well as any script that generates a popup window for any viewer of your posts.
We have tried using the PM system to remind members of these rules and to ask that they conform to them, but this is changing. There will be no more warning PMs sent out. If your signature and/or avatar and/or usertitle does not conform to the rules, the privilege of having them will be lost.

The first infraction and your sig/avatar will be removed. You'll be able to add back an appropriate one.
The second infraction and your sig/avatar privilege will be removed for a minimum of one month. You will only get it back after PMing me that you'll abide by the rules.
The third infraction and your sig/avatar privilege will be removed permanently.
Question: Should we have a closed, public thread that lists all those that have lost their privilege? I do keep a list, but does it need to be public? It's time for discussion. However, the discussion will NOT be around changing the rules. Dave :D Posted by: Harper
Originally posted by DMo224 We have tried using the PM system to remind members of these rules and to ask that they conform to them, but this is changing. There will be no more warning PMs sent out.
So people might might know that i am a mod on another forum, and what we normally do is give the user a PM. It's we have not replied to the PM with a suitable time frame, or done some thing about there sigature, we then normally replace the sigature file with :- (USER NAME)'S SIG REMOVED MY MODS AS IT WAS TOO BIG! Please read forum rules about Sig Sizes before reloading Sig File. I have found that users might not pay attension to PMs from the mods, but they do seem to take notice when their sig is no longer there. And in the end, we find that it's works. Posted by: DMo224 Not many replies yet, but I guess there will be more when it starts happening. Dave :D Posted by: AND_YOU_ARE I agree with the rules and keep my sig to the regulations. I don’t like having to scroll horizontally when sig pictures are too wide. I am glad actions are taking place to fix these problems. I am sure it’s tedious and takes time you don’t want to spend being the sig-police. I have begun to see Harper's method in more and more user's sig. If you have a closed thread with those who have lost their privilege, then maybe you should have one for those who are banned. I think a list of those banned and or those who lost their privileges might be useful. ~Dr. Quinn Posted by: DMo224 Like Harper suggested, I've replaced improper sigs with a red-lettered announcement. So it's probably not needed to make a list since it pretty obvious. BTW, if you're not sure when replacing your sig/graphic, it would be better to ask than just add it. Adding one that is not correct can get your sig privileges suspended for one month. Dave :D Posted by: Trance_1985 Hi I'm new.... Just want to confirm if links are allowed in ones sig or not. Posted by: Alex81388 Well as you can see in about 80% of the signatures here... Yes, they are. Posted by: DMo224 I've been asked to make a couple of points clearer about sigs. Here's the attempt: Lines: The maximum number of lines is 15 using text size=1. The maxium is 8 lines or less using a bigger font and text size, and with a graphic. First, blank lines and lines with dividers like ******** or --------- count in your maximum number of lines. Using text size 2, you can only have 8 lines of text (only 1 line if using text size 3). If you have anything else in your sig, like a graphic, you can only use text size 1. Using text size 1, you can have up to 15 lines. However, if you include a graphic, the maximum is 8 lines. Images: No more then 2 images...totaling 468x120 and they must be kept small. You can have 1 or 2 images/graphics in your sig. The total of both graphics can not exceed a width of 468 nor a height of 120 pixels. For example, a graphic that is 140 by 140 is not allowed because it exceeded the maximum height. You can have urls in your sig, or graphics that are linked to sites. However, make sure those sites abide by the rules (like no adult sites). I hope that helps. Dave :D Posted by: Dark_Sniper* i have a question i made a sig from photoshop today of my system but i dont know how to put it on the sig place. Can you tell me how to do it plz. Posted by: DMo224 In the bottom, left hand corner of most of the forum pages is a small box that tells about vB codes, images, etc. To include a picture or graphic within the body of your message, or in your sig, you can simply surround the address of the image as shown here (without the spaces, of course): http://www.tech-forums.net/blueimages/vBulletin_logo.gif Dave :D Posted by: Simon my sig is THE BEST!!! Posted by: Dark_Sniper* um... whats the size for the avavters Posted by: Shumway The size for avatar's is 80x80 if i'm not mistakin. Posted by: tarantulatarama "If the administrator has enabled custom status titles, then you can specify the text you want to display by editing your profile and entering the text you want in the Custom User Text field." When can I write another custom status title? Do I have to have 50 posts or something? Posted by: DMo224 At the moment, it's 20 posts. Dave :D Posted by: tarantulatarama brill - thanks for the info. Posted by: DMo224 You're welcome. For those that have asked.... Scripts: Scripts are allowed but should be used with caution. Scripts like those from www.danasoft.com that display the users IP are not allowed as well as any script that generates a popup window for any viewer of your posts. We do allow some scripts in sigs. However, there are some that are not allowed as mentioned in the rules. Also, if your script interferes with the forum or the browser, it is not allowed. Dave :D Posted by: Red Fox
Originally posted by Simon my sig is THE BEST!!!
Actually it is not. I find it ironic that in a post about signature rules, you blatently ignore the rule on size limitation and display it proudly. In case you can't read, its 468x120, not 500x100 as you currently have. Posted by: joshd
Originally posted by DMo224 http://www.tech-forums.net/blueimages/vBulletin_logo.gif Dave :D
how do i put my sig picture on the internet? Posted by: Trotter Host it here for free, then link to it. http://imageshack.us/ Posted by: joshd cheers guys. ive sorted it. how does it look? Posted by: DMo224
Originally posted by joshd how does it look?
It looks legal! Dave :D SigSanta Posted by: RockyZ Nvm, my bad... Posted by: 95_GSX i was wondering if there was someone that would be willing to build me a sig if i emailed them my pics and specs. i would try and do it myself but my old cough* pirated cough* photoshop doesnt want to load on my new comp. and i am too poor to go and buy a copy. plus i pretty much suck with photoshop anyway. so if anyone would be willing to help me out it would be appreciated. thanks. Posted by: DMo224 After some more thinking and discussing with others, it might be good to make my list public. At this time, I have four lists:

Those that have had their signature removed for the first offense.
Those that have had their sig privilege removed because of a second offense.
Those that have lost their sig privilege permanently because of the third offense.
Those that have had their sigs tweaked, but not removed.
Do you think that this list being public would be useful and help you to know where you stand with the SigSanta? Please note that your username is now removed from the first three lists after 6 months of compliance. Other than that, the rules are the same. Dave :D Posted by: Elbatrop1 I think it would be helpful. Perhaps a list would be better than the red writing that replaces a unlawful sig. It looks kinda bad for the member when every post they make ends in red writing describing that they have broken the rules. On the other hand, anyone would be able to find out who has had their priviledges revoked, but it would be so blatant. Posted by: DMo224 Just a reminder of the rules, and a note that I've had several requests that the list of "sig offenders" be made public. Being public would help those that lose their privilege for a month to know without reading a PM (you know, you don't see your sig so you check the list). Anyway, this list would be a closed thread that only Forum Leaders could edit and it would contain the information listed in a previous post. The rules will not change. Any more comments about having a public list? Dave :D Posted by: Trotter Ummm... sounds like a good idea to me, Dave. Posted by: DMo224 Here's a just in case someone hasn't read the rules in awhile about sigs:
7) Signatures must adhere to the following specifications:

Text signatures may not exceed 15 lines in size 1, or 8 lines in size 2. Text size 3 and above is not allowed. Text size 1 may only be used with a graphic, with no more than 8 lines.
The combined size of all images in a sig is a maximum of 468x120. Please keep the file sizes small for loading times.
Any scripts that display a user's IP address and browser information are not allowed.
Signatures are subject to Rule 3.

Dave :D Posted by: Snake-Eyes For the signature, does the picture have to be 468 wide x 120 tall, or can it be 120 wide x 468 tall? Posted by: nitestick as far as i know the constraints are 468x120 (widthxheight). 468 tall stretches posts out too tall. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.
