The PCDB is a place where people can showcase their PC's. It will accept your images and host them, and you can fill in a huge amount of info (or as little as you like) about your system. You can then use a link to your system's entry in the PCDB as a summary of your system's specifications, performance and modifications. How does it work? Think of each entry as being 2 separate parts. Firstly, there's the specifications page. This lets you list in great detail all the info about all parts of your system. You don't have to fill it all in if you don't want to - just skip the parts you want to leave blank or can't remember. You can come back and update it later if you like. The second part of each entry is the pictures page. This section lets you upload images to be stored on our server, so you don't need to worry about setting up some banner-infested webspace or using your ISP's webspace. We'll serve the images from our own dedicated server. You can put in as little or as much information as you like. Only put in pictures if you want. If you don't have any pictures, just put in your PC stats. What is the data used for? The pictures section is obviously for you to showcase your system. The statistics section is a searchable database that can be used for many things. It could be used to see what hardware if overclocking the best, and to check if people are running hardware successfully with other hardware. Primary use is for printer sharing. The Canon LBP-660 is a GDI printer ; which means they are extremely fussy about printer servers. Canon USED to print out a printer server for these computer, buy my buy price (wholesale and directly from canon) was about AU$370. However, now this product have been discontinued. Since it's close to the phone in the house, people can also look up the online white / yellow pages for phone numbers. So I will keep the monitor there. I am going to put a copy of PlanIt on this computer so we can set up out private phone list there too. It basically made from spare parts from retired PCs that I found in the production room today (not including Printer). my boss is prolly going to kill me when he find out how much Ram I have put into this puppy. But all in all, not bad for an afternoon bit of work. One of the big hotels in sydney were upgradding there workstations, and they were throwing out there old gear.
