I would like some reccomendations for a Dx10 card which by August this year will be in my price bracket of 200-240 GBP. I am currently interested in the 320MB 8800GTS, Will this be a substantial upgrade for the game over my X1950Pro ?. I would like some other reccomendations because by then there maybe a better GPU card for the same money, maybe a cheeper variant of ATI's R600 coming out this month ?. For anyone who has an idea on the cards coming out please can you reccomend some for good DX10 perfromance, mainly being crysis for now. I have a few more questions 1). I have a Micro ATX Motherboard and a full sized Akasa Zen Case. My current X1950Pro takes up the PCI-E and 1 PCI Slot leaving just one slot for my soundcard to fit in ( about a 2mm gap between them). Will a Nvidia 8800 (and 8600 or whatevers coming out) or ATI R600 (or any other ATI Dx10 Cards) card fit in my Mobo> Case and still leave room for decicated sound card.? 2) will my 400W NorthQ PSU be enough to run a card like and 8800 or an R600 ?,My current set up runs flawlessly with it. My other current system specs are a Core 2 Duo E6300 and 2GB PC5300, if you think my current GPU is ok, do you reccomend i upgrade my CPU or RAM? Thanks in advanced. Posted by: jonny_uk what kinda 3Dmark 06 score is your system getting? Plus 5months is a long time in the computer world, id leave it and ask the same question when you actually have the money, none of the members on here have a crystal ball :P Posted by: K M A N Ok i suppose 5 months is kinda a loooong time... ok so skip the card part now. What about the others (Just takea guess). O and one more thing, will i need to upgrade to Vista to play using DX10 with all the features in games like crysis ?. Posted by: andrus You will need Vista to play in DX10 mode I believe. Posted by: Dexaroni Ya know, this has been ALL over the internet. No, a 400 watt PSU will not be enough. You need at least 420 to power a GTS, an R600 is supposed to be 520. If you X1950 Pro is double slot, then it is the same depth as an 8800 or R600. What you need to be concerned about is length. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
