Problem with an Xbox A/C cable

Someone I go to school with told me that he's having a problem with his Xbox. Apparently, his A/C cable is loose, and when he tries to turn the system on he will either hear a pop or see a blue spark. Sounds like a short but I'm not sure. He want's to know if there are any places (Microsoft maybe? I don't know if they still repair old Xboxes) that he can take it to get it repaired or perhaps, if there are instructions somewhere on the world wide web, I myself can fix it.
