I have a laptop that has the ability to have 2 hard drives in a RAID-0 configuration. It has a 4200 80gb drive in it right now and I am dying for better performance! So would I be better off buying a larger hard drive that's 7200 rpms or buying another 4200 rpm 80gb drive and running them both as RAID-0? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Jeff

Im pretty sure it would be very close in performance but of coarse buying another 80gb would give 160gb at increased speed and cheaper. I would for sure just buy another and RAID0 it

The 7200RPM will be better

But not by too much, he will get a lot more space and spend a lot less.

I'd take the slight performance hit and go with the extra hard drive capacity.... You probably won't notice that little performance drop.

2x 7200's will work :D
