Here's a pic of my subs and my amp: My question is, can these subs (4ohm) be run off of this single amp. And what kind of wires do i need, and what kind of midrange speakers to use. Here's a link to more of the sub specs:http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/catalog%20page.asp?Product+%23=SRW1285 thanks Posted by: TheMajor http://www.tech-forums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=142013 Posted by: R1C0CH3T how does that help? He made 1 post 3 weeks ago. You really should have posted this in Computer Audio & Multimedia, granted its not computer related, but thats where the audiophiles reside. Get a mod to move it to Computer Audio & Multimedia, if they won't just wait a few days and repost. To hook up you will: Run RCA from your deck to the amp Run power from the battery to the amp Run speaker wire from the amp to the speakers As far as your mids/highs, you might want to try just running them off your deck power. I would suggest maybe a speaker that has both the mids and highs in one package to make it simpler. Something like this: http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCT142C Posted by: Crysalis send a PM to EricB... this is his expertise. Hes a national champ for car audio. Well, not solely, but I watch for threads concerning audio and help out. Posted by: R1C0CH3T cool, thanks for the help. do the midranges need to be 4ohm too or does it matter? Posted by: R1C0CH3T and would this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-6-GAUGE-FULL-CAR-AUDIO-AMPLIFIER-WIRING-INSTALL- KIT_W0QQitemZ270094864645QQcategoryZ32808QQssPageN ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem work to hook the amp and subs up? Posted by: idiotec
cool, thanks for the help. do the midranges need to be 4ohm too or does it matter?
It should be. Just about every car audio speaker is, so that should be what you get any ways. If you want to run both the mids and your subs off the amp you have, you will want to check to see if it is stable at 2 ohms. If it is, you can connect the speakers in parallel.
and would this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-6-GAUGE-FUL...1QQcmdZViewItem
That would work, but after shipping it might not be a great deal. If would just cost out everything at a local shop first and see what it would cost. For $15 for all that it might be some pretty cheap crap  The important thing to learn with car audio is the effect of impedance with different wiring configurations and bridging. Using both effectively will get the most power out of your system.
