Connection keep failing in browsers?

A few times a day, I will be at different sites and all of a sudden, I get the Unable to Connect page.
But my connection is alright. I can still message on message systems and all. I use Firefox mainly, but when it goes out, it effects all browsers. I have to actually restart the whole computer to be able to go to sites again.
The light stays on and the modem goes right to the computer. No other computers on a network or anything.
I have cable internet service. I have also tried to just log off and log back on but that doesn't work, I need to actually restart the system.
Any ideas on what I could do?
