He lives 50 miles away. Is there a way to add him to the network (we need the shared folders) without disrupting the lan I have? I have 4 computers on the home LAN. Two lappers and two desktops. My Modem/Router is a 2wire 2700HG-D. Posted by: Lorithad There's a free program called "hamachi" It allows you to create a virtual LAN with people without disturbing your internet connection. You're not going to get the speeds that you would if you were actually connected to a real LAN, but you will be able to share files, or play LAN games together. You can get it here: http://www.hamachi.cc/ Posted by: thewizardlee Thanks I will have to try that out. Is this the only program or just the best? Posted by: Lorithad There are other programs, such as openvpn, and tinyvpn. However these are a little more advanced, and thus, more difficult to set up. Hamachi works, and it's simple to use. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
