Now only if I can find the time.... Anyways, I was wondering about carbon fiber for use in case mods. Does anyone have a case with this integrated, or completely constructed of CF? When I build myself my next rig at the end of may/june, I want to make the case sleek and sexy, not too elaborate, but something different. Something to accent the beast within (I'm thinkin dual 8800GTX's or dual X2800XTX's, Quad core CPU, 4gigs Corsair.....) So I thought of carbon fiber, because I've never really seen this used in case mods. So, what have you got for me? Posted by: Apokalipse carbon fiber case? sounds expensive. I'd like a carbon fiber case though, but I haven't actually seen any. Posted by: nosbusch2005 Actual carbon fiber is very expensive. Theres a guy on XS with a worklog involving carbon fiber in a lian li case. Looks really nice. I would recommend a carbon fiber film, basically a sticker. Looks good and waaaay cheaper. Posted by: omgTran Unless you're planning to spend atleast half a grand on your case, i'd go with nosbusch's idea and go CF film Posted by: Trotter Actually, check this out: CES 2007 - Ultra Announces the First Carbon Fiber Computer Case http://www.legitreviews.com/article/439/1/ Posted by: Pongo
Originally posted by Trotter Actually, check this out: CES 2007 - Ultra Announces the First Carbon Fiber Computer Case http://www.legitreviews.com/article/439/1/
yeah, i read that article. that is pretty cool, but i was looking at CF for the looks of it, and with that CF stickers or whatever, i might be able to achieve what i want. Posted by: nosbusch2005 Heres a link for some carbon fiber film. Has a nice video showing how to install it too. http://www.mnpctech.com/CarbonFiber.html Posted by: CrazeD CF isn't a real good choice of materials for a computer case. It's expensive, and not really made for a computer case. It's made to be a light-weight yet strong building material. You're better off to use aluminum and CF film, like others have said. http://www.mnpctech.com/CarbonFiber.html
that looks pretty cool, thanks. I will probably end up going with something like that. I'll be sure to post my progress and the end results when i get to building in a month or so. Posted by: Jumping_Bean514 IMO fake carbon fiber or carbon fiber film is the tackiest thing you can put on anything. I'd rather have a plastic case then a fake carbon fiber one and thats saying a lot. I orderd CF Eyelines for my car, they came 1x1 and didn't match my CF Hood at all, and just looked very blah. 1x1 is just dots pretty much while the 2x2 weave you get that 3d feel Posted by: Pongo
Originally posted by Slam'n Systems Ick, that there looks like 1x1 weave.
