My internet service was cut of from my ISP, Road Runner. They cut me off because someone complaint about me spamming them, which I did not. I got it up and running again because they said it may have been a virus when I called for support. Now I would like to know if there are any ISP's out there that don't do this crap? And how does this spamming thing work, does it mean spamming E-mail or sites? And could using a web based proxy prevent this if all ISP's operate this way?

Two suggestions... ANTI-VIRUS and FIREWALL.

As for a firewall, try ZoneAlarm Free. Nothing can access the internet without you giving it permission. You can download it at MajorGeeks.com .

Stop surfing porn and downloading illegal files would help, too.
