i need new mobo and cpu

i need a new motherboard and cpu, im not looking to getting a core 2 duo, cause even the lower end models cost alot, i play BF1942 ,right now i got a 2.66, so any dual core will be an upgrade. im looking at this cpu right here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103562

HOWEVER, i need a motherboard, that will SUPPORT my CURRENT RAM.
i have 2 x 512 (HYS64D64320GU-5-B) INFINEON pc3200 ram

and also the 2 sticks are NOT Exactly the same, one is HYS64D64320GU-5-B and the other is HYS64D64320GU-5-C or something like that, i dont remember the second model but it varied slightly, it was infineon too. im asking about the ram cause some motherboards are DUAL CHANNEL AND SINGLE CHANNEL, and its noted for the RAM to be identical. so im looking at that CPU and i need a matching mobo that will support my ram for that CPU socket 939. and i have another question too, the power supply i have now is a stock 20 pin one, i noticed some mobos are 24 pin, what does this mean for me? and looking at power supplies i noticed their all 20+4, this means what? i have a stock compaq 250watt power supply. if you dont like this choice , suggest a new one under 200 (or close to it)

Post this in the Upgrading section, you will get more response there anyway:)

True, but that CPU will be fine for BF1942 lol.
Im not sure about the mobo ....

Your power supply will be woefully insufficent.

Happy Shoping - choose from these brands, 450 watts or high. Greater than 20 amps on combined 12V rail.
PC Power and cooling
Etasis
Zippy
Corsair
seasonic
Silverstone
Fortron
OCZ
Enermax
Coolermaster
Hiper type R

all the cheap brands have never failed me yet lol

Its your money, but you asked for opinions, and opinions have been given...

Posted by: RSXHITMAN

well ive already posted this thread in the upgrading section and got all the answers i needed, ill go with the cheap PSU with the case if it fails me then ill still have the case and just get another psu, i rather not blow any money on it to begin with

Posted by: Ste

W/e, again it not my problem if that PSU has a "problem". I will however laugh and deny you help IF it blows up and kills your comp. (Which is rare, but still)

Posted by: RSXHITMAN

thats pretty random, ANY of them CAN blow up, just cause their cheap doesnt really mean anything, my other mobo which was a STOCK blew up randomly, anything can blow up, and anything can fail, cost doesnt always equal reliability, some companies even do that bump the cost up, look at those weight loss pills they sell them for almost 200, cause you think oh their 200 so they must work, lmfao, reverse psychology

Posted by: RSXHITMAN

i just used the weight loss pills as an example, they even mentioned that "if it costs 200 that means it must be good" , where in fact they have the same ingerdients the other ones have

Try waiting for a few months buddy,
Intel is going to release some great Hits by then end of this year.

Be smart and wait.

Posted by: RSXHITMAN

nah im not gonna wait, im not looking for best performance, those "great hits" will have a "great" price tag on them, im actually perfectly fine with my 2.7, however it just sucks for the gaming, so thats pretty much the only reason im upgrading, other than that i have no problems with it, and if i was looking for the "best" i would be looking at the core 2 duos, but as you can see im not, i think the amd x2 64's will be more then enough for what i need

Something to ponder about the PSU... My mother-in-law's PSU went out, and took her mobo with it. I know the hard drive is good, haven't checked the CPU or RAM yet.

When a PSU craps out, it doesn't go alone.

yea well my friend had a power surge from lightning and it took out his whole mobo, hows that for "price"
