Realtek 850 AC'97 Problem (Subwoofer)

I have an MSI Motherboard with a 7.1 RealTek 850 sound card running on Vista (new machine). I downloaded the latest AC'97 Audio Codecs drivers for vista, however when I run the setup the Subwoofer is barely audible. I've spent several hours trying to research the problem without any success. Any help would be hugely appreciated!!

Thanks!

If you are playing music, you should only hear it through the front left and right and the sub. If not, then its not configured correctly. You should only hear 5.1/7.1 when gaming or watching a DVD.

If the sub is still weak, check the level on the back of the sub itself.

down load the driver from realtek and run the setup.exe.

reboot the computer and head to realtek soundman (or whatever it's called). set the speaker to 7.1 or 5.1. I had the exact same problem

I had to do that in vista even though vista had loaded the driver. m audio doesn't have vista drivers, so I had to use onboard sound

XP > Vista

EricB you rock! That fixed it (mostly). I'm using 3.1 (not 7.1) and when I test and play a DVD, I'm able to hear all 3 speakers and the subwoofer. However when I play a CD or watch live TV it only plays the front left and right. I assume this is because they're not in 5.1 format?

Thanks again for your help!!!
