I have the P5B- Deluxe WiFi and 2g G-skill 800. I have no experiance OCing and understand the basic concepts of it, but really have no idea what im doing, can anyone with the similar set up help me with specific numbers; fsb, volts and such or a program that can do it for me. Posted by: leje0306 Every processor is different so your request will be difficult. Google it and you will find out that it is not that hard to do. You have great hardware for OCing though! Posted by: gmanych got 3Ghz outta mine EASY! Posted by: avinnik What kind of power supply and motherboard is good for overclocking an e6600? Posted by: saltynay abit aw9h-max is suppose to be a great overclocker but so are the gigabyte ps3 and asus p5b series are good too. Matt Posted by: nu2duo Last night I finished putting together my c2d pc using an ASUS P5L-VM 1394, 2g transcend memory and so far I've been able to get the cpu up to 3.01 with stock hsf. One issue though. I had to lower my mem frequency. It still performance 10x faster than my previous set up...an athlon xp-m2400+ overclocked to 3200+. I think with better memory I can get beyond the 3.2 mark. Tonight I will attempt another small increase. Posted by: Fayt19 i got mine to 3.2 easy but it doesnt want to go past that...might be a heat issue or maybe a memory issue.. Posted by: coleman make sure when you over-clock, you do it in little increments. Once you go too far your CPU is toast. I would recommend getting a Zalman Heatsink fan or something to keep your processor at a cool temperature at faster speeds i would recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118223 if you're looking for hardcore over-clocking i would recommend switching over to liquid cooling *which is a completely different ball park* ;) Posted by: wongb18c I never used a Zalman, but I'm looking to get one because I have a E6600 too and I want to do some OCing as well. But I'm wondering, those sinks are so large how can I be certain it'll fit my case (Coolmaster Centurion)? Also aren't they really heavy? When you stand your PC up ..... will the MB be able to hold it on stably? Posted by: augest I'm running a Zelman 9500 on my E6700, An it's really not "that" heavy", At least not enough to hurt the mother board by any mean's. I read review's that install was hard to do an people ended up cutting themself on it alot trying to. I must say I had no problem at all an took me about maybe 10 minute's at the most, An that's with applying my AS5 to the cpu. It really is big no doubt, Much bigger then I thought it would be. But to tell you the truth, I believe one would have no problem putting it in a mid sized tower. Aslong as your CPU slot is far enough away from your GPU. Here is a photo I took when I got it installed on my board. Click Here < I wasn't done building yet but seem's to be the best one I can find of a good shot. I've only got my E6700 clocked up to 3.06 so far. Posted by: blackhawk13 I think I'll buy that Zalman... It looks pretty decent, 75 dollars, but I'm sure it'll be worth it when I'm done OCing. p.s. augest, you have an intense rig, very nice :). Posted by: augest I got mine from Newegg for like 65$. Posted by: coleman zalman is a pretty heavy Heatskink fan, but by anymeans it wont be too heavy to injure your mobo. BTW about the fan fitting into your case what case are you using? most midtowers should be able to fit the fan, and also after installing my fan it can cut you very easily, so be careful. if you do get the zalman, you have to take out your mobo before installing it (unless you have a huge full tower case). BTW, screwing the pins in is the hardest part because u have to push down the sharp metal sidings to screw the fan on, it really feels like someone is cutting your figers off. Posted by: nagasama augest you did a great job with your wire management! Posted by: Sora yes very nice wire job. Haha i used cheap parts that are horrible to try to keep the wires out of the way (the inside looks horriblly jumbled lmao) heh but the system runs fast!! Either way very nice job on it man and even though the Zalman looks really nice I enjoy my Artic Freezer 7 that I payed 25 bucks for hah!! Posted by: augest That's still when I was putting it together. LMAO That's messy to what I have it at now. I did find a pic that was taken when I turned it on for the first time to make shure everything worked before I added the rest. But I haven't taken any pic's since an I've changed the cable's around alot more where it's really clean in there. (Still not 100% happy with it though). Click Here I'll have to take some more soon. I'm very up on making my case look as clean as I can. An thank's! Posted by: nu2duo
Originally posted by Fayt19 i got mine to 3.2 easy but it doesnt want to go past that...might be a heat issue or maybe a memory issue..
I can't get past 3.03. **** pc won't boot beyond that mark. I think my motherboard is holding me back. Memory too. My goal was 3.2 on stock hsf. BTW, at idle with stock hsf, cpu doesn't go higher than 27c. Hasn't gone beyond 37c under stress. So my hurdle isn't heat. Anyway, I'm very content with those temps. IMO, it's not worth spending another $60 on a "better" hsf when my current temps are pretty low. It's a shame though I can't get past 3.03. I've read others have gone up to 3.4 on stock cooling.
dude i cant see sh*t in this picture...hah stick to the other one. i can see that knight rider ram lit up inside, tho...woot. can't stay long, i gotta get "cracken" so i can take the lead back from sora... Posted by: augest Yeah your right sorry, It was meant to show the case lit up, I thought you could see the wire's better. LOL Well just have to wait till I take some more. :P vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
