Hey guys

When i go and install the new patch for BF2, the 1.41 patch

It installs ok, but when i go and load the game it plays the intro stuff, gets to where it says " Welcome to duty "

But at the account log in screen, when i go to log in. it goes black and brings me back to my desktop..

My pc specs should be fine...i think

AMD 64 @ 2.0ghz
7900GS
1 GIG pc3200
Asus-a8n mobo

Iv tried uninstalling the game, and reinstalling it 4 times now

Iv tried making sure i have all the ports open (pc, and router )

iv tried getting different patches

iv tried updating my sound drivers, and video drivers

But whats odd is

i can play the game if i dont install the new patch

and

My brothers pc is sitting 3 ft away from me, and he installed it just fine.

He has almost the same specs as me but, the deluxe motherboard, and a 6800gs

Also something i could never figure out is. I can't ever see my rank, When i go to BFHQ it shows i have no rank, no unlocks, no medals. And iv been playing for well over a year in ranked servers. And my brothers pc, Just fine...he sees all his ranks and stuff. And he can even log my account in on his pc and see my ranks and unlocks..lol

help please :(

I would try uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling, then go download the patch, say off of Fileplanet and install. Not sure exactly what happened but the patch must not've installed correctly, I can't think of it being a hardware issue if your computer plays it fine before the patch. Also, what O/S are you using? If by any chance your using Vista, make sure you right click the icon and Run as Administrator.

But yeah, I'd take the 10 minutes, uninstall & reinstall. You can also use your brothers CD when installing to make sure theres something not wrong with yours; I know a few people who's BF2 CD just completely biffs on em'.

Well the cd thing did not work but, i was so fed up i reinstalled widows lol

But i found the problem. On my ASUS driver disk is a " Nvidia Firewall Manager " that i never used to install, so i installed it and went thought he settings and turned it off, Wala!!!! My patch worked and my rank was there. The rank i NEVER seen before...All my wep unlocks, medals, etc etc

So im pretty happy now, so if anyone with a asus a8n could never get there rank on Bf2, do this!

Yep, Game's worked fine since then :cool:

A pc should have a clean install of windows ever 8-12 months imo

Yeah, the same thing happened on my PC with BF2, however I have yet to fix it.

Im almost positive it has something to do with the refresh rate of the video card compared to the refresh rate of the monitor.
