Dont get one of the higher-end models, even if they tell you it will be better, because your current build wont be able to take any advantage of anything more than the $30 Sound Blaster Audigy, and even that might be overkill. Just saying so you dont get conned in to buying something too expen$ive. and ps, dxdiag is not going to like that system anyways, because it is not built for direct-x 9. So it might just not detect your outated hardware. And remember, if your sound works, then you dont need to fix anything. A soundcard doesn't take any memory or processing power... thats the reason you get one... to relieve the CPU and RAM from processing the audio. IF anything, his computer will perform BETTER... Anyways... Poster: Check BIOS to see if your onboard sound is enabled. If it is, then you need to use the drivers off of the system/motherboard CD. If that does not work, your onboard "chip" has crapped out and you'll have to revert to a soundCARD (PCI). You can get a cheap one, but if you are willing to spend the money, there are good cards for not so much money. Audigy 2 ZS - $80. Awesome awesome card. I sold mine a week ago and I miss it dearly. My X-fi is just not doing the job. Posted by: azeem40 When i go to BIOS,where do i go to find if the onboard sound is enabled in there? Posted by: Crysalis I don't know what your BIOS looks like... just look for onboard audio of some sort. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.
