They sent me a letter that said I have to change my modem so they will be able to use PPPoE. Posted by: LA1 Are you switching from dial up or cable to dsl. If so you need to get a new modem. Modem is a generic term just like car is a generic term. There are different kinds of cars and there are different types of modems. Posted by: jesspren6 I have dsl and I will stay the same with dsl except they want to change my current dsl modem with another one that will be able to use PPPoE. Posted by: bla!! PPPoE is just another encapsulation method to get data from your ISP's network equipment to yours. All you're going to have to do is change some of your rotuer configurations. They should detail this for you in your router manual or you can ask your ISP for help. Almost all routers these days have PPPoE ability. Posted by: Steve.Laboy pppoe requires login/password and a domain sometimes. pppoe is fickle too, so make sure to use dsl filters on all your phones. ~ !
