My boyfriend and I use the VOIP program Skype to talk, and I use Teamspeak when I game online. However recently both my boyfriend and my guildmates have said that the feeback is so horrible they cant talk with it. Basically, for them it sounds like as if I was allowing the audio to come through the speakers and then it is then transfered back to them via the microphone. However, I have my head set plugged in. They can hear themselves talk in an endless playback loop and can even hear my game music loud and clear even though I have a headset on.

Its not the headset as I have already tested it on a different computer. any help would be appreciated.

In the playback section in the volume control panel, mute the microphone. This wont mute it for others, but will mute so you can't hear it. Also, in the recording section, make sure the microphone is selected as recording device and not WHAT U HEAR (or STEREO MIX).
