Is there any programs i can get to make my own loops.

ie. Drum tracks?

Acid and Ableton are a few that come to mind right away...

But the most obvious one that you probably already have is... (drum roll please)...

Garageband!

Didn't that come with your MBP (it should have)? I'm pretty sure you can make your own loops in that (not 100% though... I have only used it a little bit).

What exactly are you trying to do?

Record a drum beat (say, like a four bar phrase) and make that into a loop? Or just get a drum loop up and running in Garageband? I need specific info....

Now that I think about it, I believe Acid only runs on windows... which could be fine for you if you don't mind using windows on your MBP (I saw in some earlier posts that you already use windows for gaming?)

ok yeah. i have to make a drum beat up for some song i am doing in a class. and i don't have a prob with that because i am a drummer. but i dont' have all the mikes i need to record it. so i was going to make it on the computher. i just wont to be able to do all the differnet parts of the drums such as hihat, snare, cymbals.... myself instead of taking the crappy ones they have in garage band.

GarageBand is capable of ALOT more than you're giving it credit for. :sigh:

yeah that might be ture... but i still think its kinda dumb.
i don't wont to make beats for a hiphop song. i hate most hiphop.

You MUST be kidding. I've helped professional musicians make tracks in Garageband - pop and rock stuff. Don't call it dumb until you've fully explored it.

I'm thinking about shelling out $99 to buy Garageband's Drum Kit sold at Apple stores. Is it worth it? I'm VERY impressed by what you created with GarageBand in 20 minutes. I write mostly R&B and pop, some in triple meter. I borrowed a Track Pack Apple Loops R&B from a friend and frankly I think it's not very useful. All I'm really looking for are several drum machine loops for pop ballads, mid-tempo R&B songs (some in triple meter), Christian contemporary and Rock. I don't think playing real time rhythm instruments beat after beat is my only solution. I just need a basic track I can build from.
