I'm building my own PC with an intel MOBO and a C2D chip... If I partitioned my HD, could I, in theory, get Mac OS X to run standalone off of that seperate partition? why/why not? from what I've been told it is possible, given that OS X can and does work with Intel chips now. thanx mac Posted by: The General Yes but it would be illegal. Countdown to thread close... Posted by: Macntech it's illegal?! even if I bought a new version of OS X? (which I had planned on) you can't do whatever you want (within reason) with a piece of software that you buy legally for yourself?! what the heck? Posted by: The General OS X won't even install on a PC you build. You'd have to get that illegal pirate hacked version of OS X off the warez, and it would work. But if you go and buy a copy of OS X: 1. It won't be for Intel, it will be for PowerPC. All Intel Macs come with OS X Tiger on then, so there would be no reason to buy the discs unless of course you're using Panther and want to upgrade to Tiger, in which case you definitely don't have an Intel Mac. 2. In the EULA, it says you can only install Mac OS X on an Apple Macintosh computer, so you'd be violating the EULA by installing it on a PC. Furthermore, if you think this is absurd and that Apple is a bad company because of it, then you need to open your eyes and look at what Microsoft is doing as well as the rest of the entertainment and computer software industry. If you want freedom, use Linux. Period. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
