My answer would ne "SuSE, Mandriva and Fedora." My guess is you've never used Debian or a Debian-based distro before? Posted by: WorldIndustries Debian 6.06.1... Still getting used to it, hopefully I don't drop Linux like 97% of the people who try switching from Windoze. Though, mainly because i didn't know how to access NTFS partitions to get to my music and since i've found out haven't reformatted nor felt the need to. I may be reformatting soon, and along with it, giving Linux another go. I like Linux a lot, it's just i got annoyed using it for a while and not hearing any music. I'll be trying either Xandros 3.02 or Debian 3.1 R3. Posted by: zmatt lol behave children! Posted by: horndude slackware gentoo_64 linux from scratch Posted by: Raekwon ubuntu 6.10. Oh yeah, jumped on THAT bandwagon. Posted by: usce
Haha, you like all the crappy distros. Really, if someone were to ask me "What are the three crappiest distros out there?" Debian, Slackware, etc are nice if you have a month set aside to configure the OS. If you want to be up and running in a few hours though, I'd go with one of the so-called "crappy distros". What I think is funny is that people dog these distros for not being more unix like. But usually refuse to use BSD which is almost a unix mirror. Linux is made by PC users that want Unix on their PC's. BSD is made by Unix users that want Unix on their PC's. All there is to say is: to each their own and good luck! Posted by: t3ch_threads I have ubuntu 6.06 on my old comp for rossetta@home number crunching. I have tried opensuse (awesome), dsl and others. I plan on moving my parents comp to ubuntu :D, and buying a system76 laptop.
a month? not hardly, unless your slow like a snail from boot disk to config being done, a couple hours is all it takes Posted by: zmatt i use openSUSE 10.2 ever since i got it installed i feel in love.
