Well it turns out that the title to them are porn related and when you right click to delete them, there isn't an option to delete. You can't even send them to the trash bin. You can't rename, move, edit or delete these 2 files for some reason. One file is 223KB and the other is 45.5KB. I want to get rid of them but don't see a way to do it. Can you please help? I am afraid they maybe spyware. Posted by: Ste Killbox Or Hijackthis remove on reboot feature Posted by: chevyx92 Thanks for the ideas but those programs didn't work either.:( Posted by: Ste Did you do them in safe mode? You Can use a Linux Live CD to boot from and delete them also. But youll have to teach yourself how to do that, Just google linux live and read the guide. PM The General if you have problems with Linux. Edit: Are you sure you used Hijackthis's remove on reboot feature? Its never failed for me... The remove on reboot feature is in misc tools section, you then broswe to the files you want removed and hit open then restart. Posted by: chevyx92 Yes I tried in safe mode, no luck. The problem with the 2 programs you suggested is that when it asks to select the file or type in the complete path, it says invalid file, or it just won't be recognized. I guess I'll try reading up on Linux. Posted by: alexsabree i betcha i know what it is.. Rename their file names, they are probably to long to delete Most of the "porn-related" things on limewire have extremly long names, making them impossible to move to the recycle bin or open. Posted by: chevyx92 I can't rename them, it wont let me. I can't do anything to these files it seems like they're untouchable. Can't move them, delete, rename, edit.....etc. Nothing is working on these 2 files. Posted by: peterhuang913 is limewire still on when ur doing this? if so then delete from lw or turn lw of and delete from windows. Posted by: Ste
Originally posted by peterhuang913 is limewire still on when ur doing this?
If hes used both programs in safe mode like I asked him to then No. Posted by: chevyx92
Originally posted by peterhuang913 is limewire still on when ur doing this? if so then delete from lw or turn lw of and delete from windows.
No limewire is not running. Like STE said I have tried deleting in safe mode with no luck. Posted by: alexsabree Hmm... weird, i don't see anyway of them becoming that indestructible Posted by: Ste Can also try this Program http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ Another way you can try is to run cmd through the start menu, navigate to the folder it is in, use task manager to end explorer.exe then in cmd use the delete (Filename). And see if that works. Either way, to start explorer.exe again use run new task in taskmanager and type explorer.exe Again, if nothing works keep reading up on linux live. The only way you can delete a file in such a situation is to browse the HD with a Bootable OS such a linux and erase the file through linux when windows is not in use..
That "Unlocker" won't even come up as an option when I right click on those 2 files. It works on all others but not those 2. I will keep reading on linux. Thats gonna take me some time to learn and figure out. Thanks for that program though. Posted by: Ste Tried the other way i posted? Posted by: chevyx92
Originally posted by Ste Tried the other way i posted?
Are you saying to type in "CMD" in the run command and navigate to the file? If so I cant navigate or I just don't know how. Not like dos? Posted by: Ste Start>run>Cmd Yes its like dos you need to end explorer.exe through taskmanager after cmd comes up then use the delete (Filename) command.
Everything I type says not recognizable as an intrnal or external command, operable program or batch file. And I shut explorer down through task manager.
