ZASS + AVG Free

Currently I have both running, and I know that's generally considered a bad thing. One of my little personal issues is that I can't help but think of them like spyware programs where having more than one is better than the other, because one program might miss something that another manages to catch.

I'm running ZASS 6.5 (I know 7 uses Kaspersky which is better but I'm ambivalent about upgrading due to bugs) and AVG 7.5 Free.

The thing about AVG is that it has all these other components which I feel I would be missing out on if I uninstalled it.

Basically, what's a good course of action to take? AVG keeps crashing when it tries to update. I thought I solved the problem by repairing the installation but it's back again.

get the latest thing, try out avg 7.5

I am currently using Trend Micro 2007 so i dont know anything about avg or zass.. but you should always get the latest thing for antivirus

Do you mean the paid version of AVG 7.5? I have the latest version of the free version; I even uninstalled and reinstalled but the program keeps crashing when it finishes updating ("Check for Updates"). I read that it's possibly due to the conflict when you have more than one anti-virus program.

o... i thought you said it was free..

Well, i guess just disable one of them and see if it works.. if not then its not caused by two running at the same time.

I run ZApro And AVG Pro.

Whenever I have a problem with AVG I email support. They always get back to me quickly and resolve issues.

It might be different with the free version. But I would try it.

AVG Technical Support

I would lose ZASS. ZA on its own is a huge resource hog and the ant-spyware is useless (IMO) and the AV is not very good especially the GUI.

Cheers

If you have a problem with a free A/V, uninstall it. There are plenty of others to choose from.

Always make sure you have the latest version of your A/V & Firewall.

You may want to try BitDefender free. *Google*
