I've always been a Windows user. I don't have any choice but to use Windows at work. I want to move to the Mac at home. I want to find the best deal possible. I'll use the new system for managing photos. What is the minimum sized Mac I should purchase for this? Which processor should I get? What should I stay away from? Are there any web sites that will help me determine what Mac I should purchase? Please provide me feedback, thank you. Anything more serious, like video editing, and you may want an iMac. Posted by: yellowdragon That doesn't look portable?? I want something that I can take with me! I need a little more information before I make a decission, that's why I was asking specific questions. Posted by: moisiss If you are going to buy a new Mac laptop, the choices are really pretty simple.... they basically only sell two different laptops. There are no processors to "stay away" from... they all basically use they same processor.. the Core 2 Duo. The minimum size... if you are talking about the physical computer, I don't know.. that's up to you. If you are talking about the Hard Drive space.. I would go with at least 80 GB... that's just me though. I would look at the MacBook for something like photo management. It's a great laptop... but probably more than you need. You can find a lot more info at... http://www.apple.com/ Posted by: yellowdragon I just place an the order. I got the mac book core 2 duo 160 GB drive 2 meg of ram plus all the normal stuff that comes with it. This looks like fun. I also odered a nano for my wife $1300 on me $200 on the wife. Plus she will thank me. Where are the good websites that will help me out. I'm looking for open source software, OS X websites etc. What about tutorials, learnign methods etc. for somebody thats never used a Mac? Posted by: dwayneford Yeah i personaly really like macs. alot of people don't. i like them because you can run both Windows and Os x. i no that some people have been able to get os x running on a pc but it was alot of work. if you are useed to a pc its not that hard to switch over, but if you were to buy a mac you will be paying for it. i have a mac book pro core duo 2Ghz 512ram and a raideon 1600x video card and i really like it. i used boot camp to get window running and it was fairly simple. i did have some pc friends help but it was nice. again i just use windows for games lol... and even then it runs very nice. They are very sleak and look nice. i love mine. but they do cost. but if your not worried about that yeah. keep in mind you could porb get one made for alot cheaper. keep in touch i wont to no what you do. dwayne vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.
