So many problems...

I am the most frustrated person in NZ at the moment. I cannot for the life of me get this computer running well. I installed Prevx like Warez suggested, but now it won't runn. Says cannot run script them gives me an error, but it runs in the backgreound anyway. I cannot uninstall either. I also cannot install Windows .NET Framework 1.1 SP1. Everytime I try to my computer freezes out on reboot and nothing works. Here is my log. I would love to get this fixed as soon as possible. Thank you.

I dont see anything in here that would cause you these problems. You can remove these

some people are having issues with parental control software so maybe this is related but not sure yet...

Well, I tried to get rid of some of the files through safe mode and it hasn't worked out. I also cannot run or uninstall or reinstall this prevx1 program. It is really gertting to me now. I also cannot install the update through microsft either. Is this possibly because my version of XP Pro is US version and I am in NZ? Sounds dumb but not sure if it has anything to do with it. THe parental control was done after I have had problems. Thank you for your help.

And this Prevx1 thing is really annoying. It will run and freeze me out. Is there any way to fix this?

you may have other issues, have you tried a windows repair or last known good configuration?

Every time I do a windows repair a lot of things go wrong with my dll files and I lose connectivity with the web etc. I haven't done a last good config, will do that now, but don't see how that will solve much. Will give it a go.

I have installed this OS about 7 times. Every time I install XP I have problems. Thats why I thought maybe because its a US version and I am in New Zealand. Right when I install XP I load virus protection and anti spyware. THen install SP2, then nothing works as it should. Virus everywhere. Don't know how they get there. I thought this install was the best, but now I get files I cant delete. I have found this in my registry as well... can't delete it either..

well your problem maybe be that you are installing sp2. you need to slipstream it, do you know how to do that?

I finally have the SP2 cd, but don't know how to slipstream it. I have SP2 plus about 50 or so hotfixes on a cd. You reckon that installing SP2 may be the problem?

its a very good possibility. Go here, download and follow thru the guide. its very easy. fdisk and format ur hdd and reinstall. hopefully this wil fix all your issues. if you need help let me know.

Thank you for that link Warez. I slipstreamed SP2 and now have a new install. I can now see all of my harddrive as well. I am very tentative of getting all the updates from Microsoft online. Is there another way I can fully update my machine? I am nervous about getting more things go wrong. So far everything has worked as it should. I can even see my motherboards LAN now when before I got a wierd error. Here is my new log and cheers for the help mate. One more thing... before you tell me to delete the 017 name server everytime I do I have to put it back into my TCP/IP setting to connect online. Is that correct behavior? mind you this happened in all the other installs. And I cannot update my windows defender. Gives me an error 0x80004002.

I still hang on installing .NET 2.0 from microsoft update. I don't know why but it sits there for hours just saying installing. Everything else seems to have gone fine. Here is the latest log file.

everything else looks fine. do you need 2.0? Can you get by with 1.1?

I don't think I need it, but I can't install office XP or anything else at the moment because it is saying 2.0 is installing. I can't undo this for some reason, and I can't install 3.0 over it. When I click on yes it hangs and when I click no it quits... no winning here.
