Can you run any operating system on a Mac?

Or is it limited to Windows XP and Mac OS?

Because you should be able to triple-boot with Red Hat, Mac OSX, and XP, right?

Why do you even care?
a. You don't have a Mac
b. Your PC is barely good enough for Windows.

Ugh, to answer your completely stupid question, Yes. You can triple boot. Go away now.

Why would you want to use an old, discontinued Linux distribution from the late 90's?

Having a bad day? Most of your posts I've seen today have been rude (but funny) and you usually aren't like that ...

Then again, I've only seen like 3 of your posts today.

For your information, I am considering using a Mac because I like the way they look, and I'd like to learn Mac OS. Plus Macs are going for really cheap in the classifieds.

And my PC runs Windows very nicely. Remember, I'm not using a Celeron, I'm using Athlon. It's like going from Celeron to P4.

I'm pretty sure any Mac you find in the classifieds won't have an Intel processor... lol...

I've never trusted Klingons and I never will. I can never forgive them for the death of my boy.

Okay then...

In what year did Mac OS have that bottom application bar with all the apps/current tasks on it? Is it new?

OS 7 had a bottom bar thingy, but if you are specifically referring to the Dock, OS X in 2001.

Newp. Incorrect.
OS 8.6 brought the launch bar. ;)

And lol@the original Aqua screenshot

Weird, Wikipedia must be incorrect then.

^ Looks like a bottom bar thingy to me.

I do believe he is referring to the Control Strip, which DID originate in 7.

And ugh@OS X Beta and it's center Apple logo.

EDIT: Yeah, that's it.

Posted by: The General

I don't know, I'm not saying I know anything about Macs before OS X as I have never used a Mac older than my Powerbook G4, but from what I saw in Wikipedia, it looked like that counted as a sort of Dock, which is what talldude123 was asking about.

Posted by: macdude425

Not really - it was more of a compact Control Panels. You could alter sound, change the screen res, screen colors, enable Voices, etc. very easily, and you could (by default) hide it by hitting Command-Option-C.

Thats wierd because I have used all versions of system 7 and I never had the control strip until we got OS 8.6.
