FUN. What they need to do is upgrade the video card to a G80 with two HDMI outputs for dual head gaming, 500GB hardddrive and put a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo drive in it. Then they would be kicking the PS3 off the market for sure. Screw the 65nm processor, I could care less if its 90nm or 65nm. Posted by: talldude123 The stock 20GB Hard Drive is plenty of room for games/music/videos anyways. My friend's regular XBOX doesn't even have 1% of room used with 30 games saved in it's memory. Posted by: The General It's not about whats "enough" it's about whats "absurd" that sells. The PS3 is absurd, the Xbox360 was absurd for about 8 months and it needs an update. Posted by: Danks I just started on my music and video collection that’s grown to about 10 gigs in the past 2 months. It'd be about 50 gig by the end of the year. Be nice to be able to store it on my Xbox. Being able to run native 1080p on my 60"SXRD would be nice too :-P Posted by: talldude123 Are you sure it's not just about bragging rights? Like, who actually uses the entire 500GB of HD space in their computer, or whatever they own? I'm using the least with only 13.2GB used. VGA and component are both capable of 1080p.
Originally posted by talldude123 Are you sure it's not just about bragging rights? And on top of that, yes it's bragging rights. Like I said before, its absurdity that sells. Posted by: Danks But not on the Sony SXRD Brand, which only support 1080p over HDMI... kinda sucks. Posted by: The General
Originally posted by Danks But not on the Sony SXRD Brand, which only support 1080p over HDMI... kinda sucks.
Well, get a different TV. That's retarded. Component can do up to 2160p @ 30fps (on a 1 meter cable, but still :p) Posted by: Danks And there is many other reasons why HDMI 1.3 is necessary: 1. Support for dolby digital plus 2. Support for dolby true hd 3. Support for DTS-HD 4. Support for the image constraint token which otherwise when enabled wont allow us to get HD resolutions on HD-DVDs 5. Proper full screen display for 16:9 material unlike the VGA where many displays dont display full screen through VGA 6. Lip synching fixes to better align the frames to the sound timings 7. Legal dvd upscaling up to d1 resolution Posted by: The General
Originally posted by Danks And there is many other reasons why HDMI 1.3 is necessary: 1. Support for dolby digital plus
Optical audio output.
Originally posted by Danks 2. Support for dolby true hd
Optical audio output, unless Dolby just has some fake made-up thing where it has to be through HDMI to be called that, in which case everyone knows that it is of no benefit and is most likely exactly the same as regular Dolby.
Originally posted by Danks 5. Proper full screen display for 16:9 material unlike the VGA where many displays dont display full screen through VGA
That's a display problem, go get a real HD monitor that does what it should do and you'll have nothing to complain about.
Originally posted by Danks 6. Lip synching fixes to better align the frames to the sound timings
Adjust the sound offset with your receiver, done.
Originally posted by Danks 7. Legal dvd upscaling up to d1 resolution
Legal? Who cares... It displays the DVDs at 1080p, and that's all it needs to do. The only thing that could be improved here is deinterlacing. Posted by: MichiyoYoshiku For some reason I don't belive this and what about us Existing 360 Owners can we send our currant systems in for an Upgrade if true? Posted by: The General
Originally posted by MichiyoYoshiku For some reason I don't belive this and what about us Existing 360 Owners can we send our currant systems in for an Upgrade if true?
1. What would they do with the 8,000,000 old Xbox360s when we trade them in? 2. Do you think they would make 8,000,000 new Xbox360s? Posted by: MichiyoYoshiku not every one had an HDTV Hopefully it's a hoax An HDMI port is easy to photoshop but there was a motherboard image that was making the rounds this summer. I would imigine the people that DO trade their 360s in would be referbished and cannibalized for parts/used in repairs Posted by: Mentali$T For old XBOX 360 users there will be an adapter for HDMI connection and the 120Gb hdd will also be sold seperatly. Posted by: The General
Originally posted by Mentali$T For old XBOX 360 users there will be an adapter for HDMI connection and the 120Gb hdd will also be sold seperatly.
Incorrect. The Xbox360 is incapable of outputting a digital video signal. I guess you could get a VGA -> HDMI converter, but that's totally pointless. But yeah, the harddrive? I couldn't see them making those Xbox360v2-only. Posted by: TonCrafter The HDMI image is probably fake. Posted by: The General Why is it so hard to believe that Microsoft would put out an updated version with new digital video standards? I don't see any reason why they would fake it. Posted by: Mentali$T
Originally posted by TonCrafter The HDMI image is probably fake.
rofl its not fake its a step in the right direction for M$ against Sony's PS3. Im sure there is an adapter coming out for the first 360 tho. Ill have to try find a link to article i read. Posted by: MichiyoYoshiku It looks photo shopped to me. http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/Xbox%20360%20Video%20Connector%20Pinout.htm there's a video out there but it could have just been a very assholish modder Posted by: Mentali$T maybe it has been photoshopped it hasnt been made yet i doubt so maybe they are pics made to look like it will. Posted by: MichiyoYoshiku there's a video out there but I question how somebody would even get their hands on something like that. Posted by: gaara I was gonna buy a 360 next week but I may wait and see how this develops. I don't really care too much about the HDMI or larger drive, but lower production costs are encouraging and it would be nice to have a larger drive + HDMI for the **** of it especially if it costs the same Posted by: TonCrafter The pic appears fake to me, that's all I'm saying. I'm definitely not against the upgrades though. Guess I'll get one when they get retail versions. :) Posted by: MichiyoYoshiku
Originally posted by The General http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEylpyZkVpwzemjZKk.php
Edit- I knew it I knew it I knew it. It's a Hoax Microsoft didn't even annouce this at CES. Posted by: The General
Originally posted by MichiyoYoshiku Edit- I knew it I knew it I knew it. It's a Hoax Microsoft didn't even annouce this at CES.
Dude, did you even look at the link? It's proof that they were not lying. Why is it so hard to believe that Microsoft would release an updated version of a year-old piece of hardware, and include the new DRM standard with it? Are you freaking joking, dude? What is wrong with you people? Obviously is not fake, I don't even need to see pictures and a video to know without a doubt in my mind that it is not a hoax or a lie. Posted by: Mentali$T rofl that what i was thinking, hes quoted the link that proves it haha. Improving the 360 further and releasing it will just boost their sales and make less competition between the 360 and PS3 Posted by: MichiyoYoshiku It's a Hoax video or not it's a hoax. Just like Linux running on the 360. Also at CES Microsoft didn't even annouce or even hint that this unit is coming. Case closed Posted by: Mentali$T rofl!! its not a hoax, how can it be. Why be so sure that this is not true? dont you think its a good thing or are you just ****ed off because you just bought a new 360 and now find out they are bringing out a better one. And btw Linuk did run on the first xbox lmao. Posted by: The General Are you people joking or something? That's it. You've got to be joking. Okay, I think I understand now. It's all a big joke that you people think it's not real. GOT IT. Posted by: WorldIndustries Does the smaller architecture of the CPU mean it'll run cooler? Posted by: The General Supposedly. Posted by: aaronkupen Microsoft just confirmed that the pictures were authentic, however they stated they really have no plans of selling it to the consumer. Apparently they were just tinkering around, but does anyone believe that this revision isn't happening? Posted by: The General Why wouldn't it??? WHAT IS SO HARD TO BELIEVE ABOUT IT?!?!?! Posted by: WorldIndustries They obviously ARE releasing it, they've been saying for months and months they would have a revision. The HDMI crap doesn't matter to me anyway. I just want a cooler running Xbox. I'll probably be opening it up in a few years anyway and modding the crap out of it... Posted by: kalikiano Ok before I get ****ed off with xbox I need to find some answers. With this v2 will it get a better graphics card/motherboard meaning better graphics for non HD TV owners? I only have component video no HDTV just plain tv with component hookup. It would be really annouying to find out I paid 399 for an xbox with a 20gig HD and then only a couple months later a v2 comes out with 5-6x the HD storage and better components/heating management. No. Would upgrading a video card make existing games have better graphics? No. Will it change the fact that your TV is 640x480 interlaced? No.
Originally posted by kalikiano I only have component video no HDTV just plain tv with component hookup.
Cool, then avoid the issue and wait 6 months for it. Posted by: kalikiano I was reading somewhere that they new processor may need a new MB but after actually doing some research It doesnt seem like a huge deal anymore. I still love my 360 and we still havent heard an official from M$ anyway. edit: oh the video card thing I dont know where I got that from, maybe I misread over your post about the super xbox to put ps3 in its place. Posted by: Danks Rumors are back! I think we re getting closer to a confirmation. http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/08/black-xbox-360-with-120gb-hdd-and-hdmi-due-for-april/ Posted by: gaara Ahhh the black is so much better looking that the white Posted by: macdawg i was going to buy a 360 monday, this will definetely make me wait though, i like the black much better, cooler & quieter with hdmi is worth it to me. i hope i don't have to wait long, i april is the longest i think i can wait, i've been wanting a 360 for months now. Posted by: Danks You have to put into account that these are still just rumors. Posted by: The General Microsoft verified it. They are not rumors. WTF IS SO HARD TO BELIEVE ABOUT IT?!?! Posted by: Mentali$T lol this still going on about people not believing it. BTW iptv will be added to this revision to. So tv and HD tv will be available on demand!
