And most of them are all in the same timezone yh? So if you had say one mod in every timezone spammers wouldnt get left to spam for such a long time span because there would always be a mod on (well...most of the time) Say , 5 in the states , 4 in the uk , russia etc ? What do you think? Posted by: Trifid I suggested it about a year ago. I was told it wouldn't help. I think differently as I see spam here stay for a few hours. I also think a mod should have power to moderate the whole forum, not selected forums. Since then there has been a couple of Australian mods that have improved the control of spam. Posted by: Tkey Is there any of us uk people modding here? Posted by: Trifid I don't believe so. Posted by: Tkey Would solve alot of timezone problems ;) Posted by: Trotter As of right now, the mod team consists of people from the US, Canada, and Australia. Nothing against anyone from anywhere else... there just hasn't been any interest shown when we have recruited mods. Posted by: Tkey I would love to be a mod :> Posted by: talldude123 As would I, and many other forum members... Posted by: baronvongogo
Originally posted by talldude123 As would I, and many other forum members...
the day you become a mod is the day i stop visiting tech-forums :p Posted by: Trotter All mods must meet certain criteria, which include a minimum time of membership and a minimum post count. They must also be "squeeky clean" in regards to past behavior (perfection, though, is not required... thankfully). A shown aptitude for helpfulness, as well as a displayed knowledge of the area to be covered is also a must. I don't know of any immediate plans to recruit. When the decision is made, however, DMo224 will place something in his sig saying that we are accepting "applications" for moderators. Posted by: Tkey Hehe , i do think they need a few in the uk though ;) Posted by: Apokalipse Nitestick and I are from Australia. He's in Perth, I'm in Melbourne. Posted by: talldude123 To be a moderator, you would probably have to meet this criteria (Again, this is guessing). - Spend every second of the day at TF - Help out others - Ban the spammers :p Posted by: bmxfreakrider lol, the top 2 are freakin easy, but if your not a mod how do u ban spammers???? ive reported, thats as close as ive gotten, but id rather not, plus probably dont qualify, even tho ive only gotten pm'd once for a large sig pic...maybe if i was in the uk or russia, but since im in the us, id rather not. actually, if talldude123 were to become a mod, id probably go run and hide in my closet with my fingers over my eyes half open flinching when my pc goes into screensaver mode. j/k, probably be a good mod, i mean come on, look at that post count man! do you spend every day on here or something? Posted by: talldude123 Well, I can't be a mod because of a little feud between Nubius :( I have a high post count because I used to (and still do) post alot on here. I spend about 90% of my internet time on here, 10% on two other sites. Reporting spammers makes it much easier for the moderators to ban them. Posted by: bmxfreakrider yea, thats rare to see flame wars on here, usually only in the overclockin fourm, havent seen it anywhere else, or in a while for that matter. yea same here, about 75% of my time on the pc is spent on there, and the other 15% on myspace, or various poorly designed but still fun video games. if it wasnt for taht little report button, these fourms would be going completely nuts with spammers, and there would be like 50 mods or something like that, it would be totally nuts. speakin of, isnt there a little thing where it shows you a picture with some letters in it and you have to type those letters to register, then it confirms by sending a letter to your email box? i cant remember, it was like 1207 posts ago when i registered. Posted by: Tkey l0l , maby they would just get more mods ;) vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
