Go to: www.dyndns.org and create a New Account You will have to verify the registration sent to your mail. 2. after you are registered, log in and go to the "My Services" tab and choose "Add Host services" then choose the correct service for you. I will demonstrate on the "dynamic DNS host" as it is most common I know. 3. Choose your host name. Your IP should be identified immediately (unless you are hiding yourself behind an anonymous proxy, in which case - remove it). Click - ADD HOST 4. To update your IP (in case of a change) and to connect to the remote computer, you will have to install the dyndns updater on your remote computer (one you want to reach remotely). Get it here: http://www.dyndns.com/support/clients/ 5. Once the updater is installed you can use the window's "Remote Desktop Connection" that comes with windows usually under: Start-->programs-->Accessories-->Communications Input the correct details of your remote computer, for instance, mine can be: Computer: techFr33k.dyndns.org username: tech password: fr33k then you will be connected to your home computer remotely. NOTE: you have to define a user name and password that exist on your system at home, or create a new user just for the remote access if you want to limit resources access with that user name. you will have to authenticate yourself just as if you were in front of your computer at home :) For MAC users: http://www.macworld.com/2006/08/secrets/octmobilemac/index.php Posted by: walid97 hey man, thanks for your help, but I tried dyndns the way you described and I couldnt connect to my remotr PC. I then tried remote desktop but instead of using my dyndns FQDN, I used the IP of the remote computer along with a username and its password from this computer, but couldnt connect either. "Allow remote connections to this computer" is enabled on the remote computer. What is the problem? Thanks a lot! vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.
