i swapped out my smaller 15" monitor for a larger one (19"), and now the picture is grainy.

i did not change any of the settings on my computer, and can't seem to get rid of the graininess...so i switched back to my smaller monitor, and now it's picture is grainy also.

the graininess is not that bad (slightly fuzzy), but it's certainly noticeable before i switched monitors.

previously, it was crisp and crystal clear.

i tried adjusting it through display settings and the controls on the monitor, but nothing seems to help.

does anyone know how i can get rid of the graininess?

well its along shot but try to clean out your vga input.do you have an aftermarket vid card if so what?

christ, i don't even know what vga input is, but it sounds nasty.

it takes me a while just to find the power button.

it's an old machine ( hewlett packard p3).

i've run across other computers with the same problem at school.

i just don't understand how swapping monitors would make the picture grainy now on both monitors...bizarre.

i don't know if this makes a difference, but i should also add that the smaller monitor and computer were a people pc system which was snail-like, so i purchased a hp p3 system and used the small monitor with it...and the larger monitor is an abs monitor.

Did you change the display output to 32 bit color?

yes, i changed to color to 32 bit.

i've adjusted all the setting in the control display without any success.

how would i go about cleaning out the vga...with a little brush or something, or do i need to take it apart?

you could do that or you could blow on it or go buy some canned air and spray that on it. Also, make sure that the monitor is not sitting close to anything that could provide interference. This includes most electronic devices(speakers, phones).
