Unfortunately its very hard to remedy the situtation without reinstalling the OS. Posted by: mac_mogul Is it a dual boot mac? (meaning does it run 9 and X?) If so, you can hold down the option key when you hear the gong sound at startup. You will get a prompt to select your OS and then the computer should start up accordingly.
