I wanted to know what the differences between DLP and Plasma HDTVs are. DLP HDTV's are significantly cheaper and seem to look as good as some plasmas. Why are they cheaper and what might be a wise decision for the future assuming I'm not made of money (budgeting 3k at most for one). I'd like to get a 50", 58" or 61" TV. Please enlighten me and I will bake you a cake  ! Posted by: andrewsvalesen I guess I help you out. Goto Google and type Plasma VS. HDLCD First link. And about DLPs, they are bad. Not as good picture, and real expensive to repair. Plasma is the way to go, cheaper and just plain better. Posted by: TheEnd187 dlp is projection and wighs like 50tons. Plasma tvs use phosphorous gas to create picture vulnerable to burn in(although not really a big deal in new models) but still present wall mountable flat and takes up less space first 1080p's came out 3 months ago so 1080p is really expensive 720p plasmas have dropped in price 1080p(true HD) very expensive LCD(liquid crystal display) use liquid crystal XHD models coming soon 2x picture clarity compared to 1080p lighter and uses less energy than plasma not prone to burn in may experience ghosting wall mountable available from edtv t 1080p less expensive than plasma slightly less vibrant volor than "top" plasmas slighlty less veiwing angles than plasmas DLP(digital light processing) uses millions of tiny mirrors to produce picture very heavy(newer models get lighter everyday) less expensive than lcd or plasma excellent contrast and blacks may experince "rainbows" big ugly box no bragging rights( like saying i have a 65" plasma in my room lol) uses more power than lcd or plasma CRT(cathode ray tube) big ugly box sux Big Screen(Projection) very huge box heavy poor veiwing angles prone to burn in theres a little guide Posted by: tqualizerman I still cannot bring myself to purchase LCD or Plasma and DEFINITELY prefer my big, sucky 46" Song Wega HD rear projection. The picture on my two year old model is better than anything I've seen on these fancy newer models. I don't think plasma and LCD are quite there yet, there's a few issues I really can't get over like 'trailing' and I'm not happy with the black levels. Posted by: TheEnd187 im going to wait for laser tv's to come out instead of going 1080p plasma Posted by: swtwc Laser Tv's? Posted by: TheEnd187 http://consensus123.blogspot.com/2006/11/laser-tv-predicted-to-be-death-of.html Posted by: korky122 hey i have a 57" hdtv, progection tv. looks awsome, there really isn't a huge difference. except the price. i go to bestbuy and they dont look that different Posted by: TheOtis Did andrewsvalesen honestly say plasmas are better? No, not by a long shot. Not in anyway what so ever. I have a 32" LG LCD HDTV that I game on with my PC and it looks amazing. Posted by: charles_scott You should really explain why a Plasma tv isn't any better than an LCD. Plasma televisions have improved signifigantly over the years and cost about as much as a LCD dont they? That and Plasma has wider viewing angles.... vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited. PPC Management vB Easy Archive Final - Created by Xenon |
