[size=5][b]:Login Information:[/b][/size] [color=blue].::HOSTNAMES::. 64.21.16.232 .::PORT::. 3846 .::PASSWORD::.Currently there is no password required[/color] [size=5][b]:FAQ:[/b][/size] [b]BY GETTING ON THIS VENTRILO SERVER, YOU ARE LETTING THE OWNERS OF THIS VENTRILO SERVER KNOW THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS ENTIRE POST!![/b] There are a few things that you will need to know about this server, so let this serve as a FAQ if you will: [b][color=indigo]WHAT IS VENTRILO?[/color][/b] [b][color=green][url=http://www.ventrilo.com]Ventilo[/url] is a Voice over IP (VoIP) communication method widely used by friends, family and gamers in the world of technology. [/color][/b] [b][color=indigo]WHY USE VENTRILO?[/color][/b] [b][color=green]The answer to this is relatively simple. A little while ago a thread was started about creating a community Ventrilo server for all of us to use in order to accomplish a few things: 1) Get to know the TF community better 2) Play games with each other while on Ventrilo 3) Discuss technology together via voice just like we do here on the forums via text[/color][/b] [b][color=indigo]WHAT DO I NEED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE?[/color][/b] [b][color=green]Let's start basic. The first thing you need is a sound card.....yes, I said basic :P The next thing you need is a microphone. Or, if you don't have a mic and you are playing a game with someone, you can simply listen and use text replies. The next thing you need is the application. [url=http://ventrilo.com/download.php]DOWNLOAD THE VENTRILO CLIENT HERE[/url] From that page, you can choose your client, download and [URL=http://ventrilo.com/setup.php#Client_Installing]install[/url] the application. After installing the application, simply use [url=http://ventrilo.com/setup.php#Client_Quick_Setup]THIS GUIDE[/url] for step by step instruction. This will get you started, the rest of the potential troubleshooting we will hash out along the way....(mic troubles, push-to-talk troubles, inbound and outbound sounds and events, etc.) This application is pretty simple but there are a lot of things that you can tweak in order to gain performance. But please don't think that this is a pay service. [/color][/b] [b][color=indigo]IS THIS VENTRILO SERVER RUN, IN ANY PART, BY TECH-FORUMS.NET?[/color][/b] [b][color=green]Absolutely Not. We wish to make very clear that this Ventrilo server is not owned, nor run by any part or portion of Tech-Fourms.net. On that note, since this is in no way affiliated with TF, the rules will be different as well.[/color][/b] [size=5][b]:Rules:[/b][/size] [b]The rules are EXTREMELY SIMPLE...[/b] [b][color=red]1. Spamming will result in a ban (This means channel spamming, phonetic spamming, page spamming, etc.)[/color][/b] [b][color=red]2. Fighting will result in a ban (This means that it will be up the admins on a per incident basis.....keep it simple folks....No one wants people yelling at each other.)[/color][/b] [b][color=red]3. Although there will be little control over the language people use, PLEASE BE CURTIOUS TO OTHERS. Persons under the age of 18 must also keep in mind that if you are in an environment where the people on this Ventrilo server can be heard and frowned upon, PLEASE LET SOMEONE KNOW SO THAT WE CAN REMAIN CURTIOUS :) [/color][/b] [b][color=red]4. Please logout of the server when you are going to be away for more than an a few hours or so. (This won't really be enforced do to the number of slots we have versus users that will be on....But, just thought I should mention it)[/color][/b] [b][color=red]5. If you wish to use this server for an event or small tournament, please feel free! If you are going to be bringing a group larger than 5 people, PLEASE ASK THE ADMIN FIRST.[/color][/b] The last thing I want to see is a random guild raid of 40 people in Molten Core (or something similar) :p [b][color=red]6. THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE .... The Admins reserve the right to change any of these rules at any time :) [/color][/b] Ok, folks, that's good for now. [size=5][b]:Login Information:[/b][/size] [color=blue].::FTP SITE::. ftp.techonvent.com ftp.techonvent.net .::USERNAME::. *Must be obtained by an admin of Tech On Vent* .::PASSWORD::. *Must be obtained by an admin of Tech On Vent*[/color] [size=5][b]:Rules:[/b][/size] [b]The rules are also EXTREMELY SIMPLE...[/b] [b][color=red]1. Please don't use foolish or spiteful behavior and ruin a perfectly good, FREE Service for everyone else that wishes to use it. It also means that they can change it without notifying you. So, it means that it's up to you to make sure you know the rules as they're changed from time to time. Since this community is new, it's going to take some time to fine tune it. We won't really know what is going to happen until it does. So... we will develop rules and guidelines as we see fit. Posted by: HAVOC No, you didn't get banned. There aren't any admins logged in right now. Also, as soon as you log into the server, you will see all of the users in the channels. You don't have to move back and forth through the channels. The Spam Kick isn't set to four... Click my sig and scroll down, it will give you an image of anyone on the server at any given time. Once the community get's large enough and gets a bit more developed, people will need to break off and join different channels. Techonvent.net will soon be a dedicated FTP server for "gentle" public TF use. I will be posting host/userlogin/password information on this FTP server once I have it all setup. I will be starting this server with about 5GB of storage space. In the future, I will think about upgrading it to 100GB. So, in summary.... But, we are trying to get a bunch of things done. Truth of it all is, I love having TF and ToV at my disposable. TF for the massive membership and more serious intellectually stimulating topics and ToV for the relaxed be yourself atmosphere. I honestly think that the two compliment each other really well. We've had some TF mods, Trotter, Nitestick, elbatrop1 and the infamous Dmo224, join our community and we are thrilled that they are getting involved. It's nice to have them being supportive of what we are trying to develop. It's great to meet them and have a voice conversation. You can learn a lot more about a person then just reading their text. Well, we hope to meet much more of TF's member base on ToV. Thanks to all of TF for your support and we'll continue to try to develop a great community to compliment TF's active community. Whatever I'm working on at the time requires me to upload an /install or /contrib folder in the root folder of the forums on the FTP site. Each time a PHPBB forum is loaded by a browser, it checks to see if these folders exsist. These folders should be removed because of the potential scripts or other files usually contained in them. These files could be run or viewed by a user to either destroy a forum or view information about the forum that you typically don't want them to see....such as DB user/pass info, etc. It's just PHPBB telling you to "play it safe". Usually I'm pretty quick about getting files in and out of those folders but in case you are Harper and hit F5 every 10 seconds (hehehe) then....you might notice it :) Posted by: DMo224 Harper waits that long?
