Why? i don't undertand what difference that would make.
Well, most graphics cards come with 2 DVI ports anyway. Also, some people like to have 2 monitors hooked up to have more desktop space. Posted by: spartan1121 wait so it uses the two monitors and widens your usble space? i would think they just show the same thing but it takes it as an extension onto what the first monitor shows? Posted by: macombaland yea its nice to have lots of space for graphic design and audio recording programs. Posted by: The General They can show the same thing, but they can also not. The left monitor, you can drag windows and stuff onto the right one and vise versa. Have a video in fullscreen on one, and still work on the other. Posted by: harley3344 Yeah Its super handy when b/s/t on this forum while playing oblivion. Ive recently tryed to do 2 gc (as ive posted somewhere) so that i could have 4 monitors it works but is buggy when playing games ( 6200, 6800GT) Posted by: Tox1cThreat I use dual CRTs. adn if you ve ever used them, you can tell how much easier it is. I am able to keep winamp, tirllian, and system monitors on my left monitor, while keeping all the real estate free on my primary monitor for word, excel, firefox, games, etc. It REALLY helps when I need multiple information, like entering infor on a form online, I can look at one scrren then the other instead of having to close my windows. Also, when I write my papers, I have my research on one monitor and the paper Im writing on the other. It helps from having to move around and lose my thought in trying to switch programs, especially is something is tking forever to load. I know it sounds weird but it is REALLY usefull Posted by: harley3344 have we inspired you to try it? Posted by: spartan1121 yeah i might try it, a nearby compu-help guy said there was a place selling good quality crt monitors for as low as $25, only problem is im not sure if ill have enough space on my desk, it's a lreadt pretty crouded, and the monitor im getting is wide screen too. But since it's an LCD it wont take up a terrible amount of room, and i could put the things like my modem router tv tuner and circuit protector behind it. but i think most of the cards im looking into are dual dvi, do they make crt's with dvi? I could put my computer on the floor next to my desk, but that wont show off the LED's very well. But if i put it on the right side of the deskn i risk it falling(i would scream like a girl). So im not sure, maybe ill take a pic for you guys and you can give me suggestions. Posted by: Tox1cThreat ^ you would only scream?, if my computer fell I would cry :p Posted by: spartan1121 i don't know how to resize or anything, i don't do a lot if photography, but thats my setup. I could fit the computer between the desk and the tv, but it wont show it off. I don't want it in the corner thwere my current PC is, so i don't know what i'll do. Oh and sorry about all the trash, i figure ill clean it up when i move my old ststem off the desk. Posted by: harley3344 get some wood from ur local hardware store... get some brackets... screw them in a stud... and put ur Monitors on them. I use this for my printers ( I have plenty of room for my CRTs though) as long as get a decently thick 2x10 board then ur crts will be safe and out of the way. just use plenty of brackets Posted by: M733mhz I spy with my hairy eye, a spot for that PC right inbetween the TV and your desk on the floor. Posted by: harley3344 true, put the desktop down there, grab one of those 25$ CRT's , stick it on the desk and ull be duel monitoring in no time Posted by: 2fast4u or u could use ur tv maybe and use the monitor also. Posted by: nitestick one of the only times you'll ever hear me talk like a gamer...... "dualview FTW" i have dual monitors and love it. gives you the ability to multitask a lot better and is great for comparative work as you can have two documents open and viewable simultaneously. i also like watching videos full screen while browsing or gaming :D Posted by: spartan1121 yeah my tv does have an s video input that i don't use. I just cna't wait to watch anime that i torrent on my tv through my 360. And i don't know about puting the monitors up, that wouldn't be comftorable for me, but if i could make it studry enough it might be cool to put my computer up like that. Plus above the computer out of the picture is a fish that my mom caught. Maybe if i put the computer on the wall where the deer heads are now. That way it's easily reach-able and it's very admireable. Plus it saves a ton of desk space. Oh and my dads pretty good with wood things like that (our tree house has a freakin ramp). Posted by: Greg Psht, dual monitors... 3 is where its at :p Gotta love the 3072x768 :D Posted by: nitestick
Gotta love the 3072x768
makes screenshots a pain in the rear though :amazed: Posted by: A-mak so, when gaming with dual monitors (1 screen for the game, the other for say.. firefox).. How do you get your mouse to go over to the firefox from the game screen? Do you still have to minus out of the game? or can you push like two buttons and be in control of the second screen? always liked kvm switches - offtopic Posted by: harley3344 yes close the game. but alot of games like redalert 2 and generals will alrdy allow you to move the mouse to the other screen. seeing as this is annoying nvida settings come into play. In most games yes you must minimize the game befor going to the 2/3/4/5/6 screen (I say that cuz ive done it before and it didnt quite workout due to them being totaly diffrent chips lol). Posted by: spartan1121 i would think if you aren't in a game and your say looking at servers that you could switch between the two. Also does it still knock you out of your game if you get an IM or something? Posted by: nitestick as long as the cursor is not being used for aiming or something like that you should be able to move across. normally pausing lets you move the cursor to a secondary screen. the problem is i've yet to find a game that doesn't lose "focus" when you click on a secondary screen. vBulletin Copyright ©2000 - 2003, Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.
