I need a web hosting serivce that is under $5 a month and bills on a monthly basis and that accepts paypal.

www.siteground.com $4.95 with everything you could ever need lol. If you choose a monthly pay scheme i think they charge $19.95 for a setup fee. I didnt want to do that and payed the whole thing for a year and it was only $70
(PM me if you want to know anything or are thinking about joining siteground, youu may be able to help me lol)

And what is this about siteground? lol everything i have heard about them was really good. By any chance do you work for asmalloragne company?

Edit: loooool i just went to that website (www.asmallorange.com) and its pretty sh1t to be honest. Siteground offers much better stuff for a lot cheaper. Event the "super" package that "a small orange" offers is $30 a month! and you only get 2,400mb space and 100gb bandwidth.
With siteground i pay $4.95 a month!!!! :P and get 24,000mb space and 800Gb bandwidth. So i dont think theres any competition there. lol

You definately want to avoid siteground.com. I've seen hosts like them before. Keep in mind that more space doesn't make a host better. siteground.com oversells, a lot. They will, most likely, be around for no more than a month and then fall into pieces. ASmallOrange is a good host because it is completely safe and very fast.

What about 1&1 Hosting? Pretty popular, but the 2.47 hosting package is better than the best ones siteground offers.

Or maybe I'm missing something here.

Although 1and1 looks risky to me, I think you'd be safe with their hosting.

well what do u want for a web server for under $5? There are heaps for cheap prices. u have to look for uptime guarantee etc. one that i'd recommened would be:

www.hostmywebsitenow.com

click on "web hosting" then 'hosting plans'.

the first one is $4 a month i think and it has 5GB space,250GB bandwidth etc

hope this helps ya

hostmywebsitenow.com looks like a reseller of godaddy.com. If you like them, it'd probably be cheaper just to go with godaddy.

I've always used wowx.com - have never let me down.

Bunch of good ones in this list...

Ken is right. Space and bandwidth are not everything in web hosting. Many hosts oversell and rely on you not using your entire package. And when they oversell, they often overload their support department. And when users start to use their web space, their servers get overloaded, resulting in slow speeds. Massive overselling = bad!

Here's some tips on how to save money and get a reliable service:

1) Decide beforehand what you need and how much you need.

How much disk space will you probably need to host your site? A good rule of thumb is to err on the side of conservative. It's cheaper to stick with a low-end plan and later upgrade than it is to pay for a larger package that you wont use. This is how web hosts get money (they bank on the fact that you won't use all the space you buy).

Same goes with bandwidth. How many visitors do you think you will have on your site. Come up with a rough estimate on how much you will need in a given month.

Do you need a control panel? If so, which one would you prefer. I recommend cPanel.

Do you need MySQL databases? Do you need email accounts? How many domains do you plan to host? Do you need frontpage extensions? Write all this down.

2) Comparison Shop

Avoid blatent oversellers. If someone says they can give you 50GB of disk space and 50GB of bandwidth for $10, avoid them! There's no way you can even offer this kind of deal at cost. Also avoid hosts that claim to offer unlimited hosting. Unlimited is impossible and is another blatent overselling warning. Remember- overselling is one of the biggest things to avoid.

Make sure you stick with the plan that is close to what you need (not what seems to be a great deal). Always go with the smaller plan. You can always upgrade later.

Avoid free domain offers! Most hosts that offer free domains with their hosting packages give you all kinds of problems when you decide to leave their company with your domain name.

Good luck!
